Welcome to Mauka Makai, nestled between the Ko'olau Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, on world-famous Waikīkī Beach. Fully renovated in the fall of 2021, this 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo is situated among Waikīkī's finest hotels and just a five-minute walk to Kūhiō Beach Park. Condo offers whisper quiet split A/C in each room, a full-sized kitchen, washer & dryer, dishwasher, high speed WiFi, desks in both bedrooms, 2 HD 4k Smart TVs (55" living room & 40" in master bedroom) and a large lanai. Mauka Makai comfortably sleeps four adults or a family of six with a king bed in the large bedroom, a queen sized bed in the small bedroom, and a full-sized pull out sleeper sofa in the living room. The small bedroom cannot be rearranged but the large bedroom can be rearranged as two twin beds and a twin-sized trundle bed. The unit provides high speed wireless internet for streaming, gaming, or "working from home." The condo has three dining areas: the counter (3), the table (6) and the Lanai (4). The large bedroom contains a sit/stand adjustable office desk and chair for those who need a quiet space to work and the small bedroom offers a 2' x 4' stationary desk. The kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances including full sized fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. A coffee maker, blender, electric kettle, rice maker, and toaster are available for your convenience along with pots, pans, dish sets, cooking and dining utensils. After a day at the beach or exploring the island (we provide beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, snorkeling gear, etc.), wind down with a great book from our library of Hawaiian history/culture or invite your friends & family to play any of our card games & board games, from classics like Monopoly and Poker to gamer favorites like Pandemic, Munchkin, and Sushi! Go! You’ll also enjoy our collection of local art lining the walls of every room. THE LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION: The condo is located in the best neighborhood of Waikiki, where there are no hotels on the beach, allowing for unobstructed access. Scandia Tower is a highly sought-after destination due to its corner unit floorplan and close proximity to the beach, Kapiolani Park, the Honolulu Zoo, the Aquarium, Diamond Head Crater along with all the world-class shopping and restaurants Waikīkī has to offer. The building is 17 minutes from the airport (with no traffic). The King Street Exit off the H1 freeway provides the most consistent traffic experience. Follow King Street to Kapahulu Avenue to Lemon Road to Paoakalani Avenue. Scandia has two parking entrances on Paoakalani Avenue. You will need to take the first ramp that goes down to the lower level. It is immediately past the ABC Store. If you miss your turn, you must loop around Cartwright & Lemon. Uber & Lyft both operate in Honolulu and are an ideal way to get to and from HNL airport. Our buses have their own app (TheBus Oahu) for smart phones and are clean reliable and cover the entire island again including to and from Honolulu airport. Should you choose instead to rent a car expect most daily parking to be around $30-$50 per day - Our condo includes that FREE for you in the garage below . Shortly before you arrive, you'll be given a code to access the unit for the duration of your stay. A Lock box is located next to the resident manager's office in the basement where you will find a key fob for the building. Additional fobs will be located in the kitchen. Free covered parking, with easy in-out access, will make exploring paradise a breeze. ARRIVAL & PARKING: While modern GPS technology can provide the best real-time information, the King Street Exit off the H1 freeway provides the most consistent traffic experience. Follow King Street to Kapahulu Avenue to Lemon Road to Paoakalani Avenue. Scandia has two parking entrances on Paoakalani Avenue. The parking stall is located in the far-left corner of the lower level. It’s marked LP. DO NOT PARK IN EMPTY STALLS. YOU WILL BE TOWED. OTHER NOTES: The phone in the unit can also be used to make calls to the mainland and Canada as well as admit guests into the building from the callbox outside the lobby. Mauka Makai is located in the resort zone area of Waikīkī, which allows short-term vacation rentals. State and county taxes are 13.25% TAT (Transient accommodation tax) and 4.71% GET (General excise tax). Owners Tax ID: TA-160-741-8880-01
