The Kumu Compound is made up of two individual (3 bedroom / 2.5 bath) homes that share a driveway. It has 6 bedrooms that can sleep 12, making it an ideal rental for groups who want to be close but have their own space. Both homes are designed with modern island surf style & located in a lush, secluded lane of charming homes right off the iconic Ali'i Dr. It is a welcoming family-friendly home base for all of your Hawaiian adventures and a quick ten minute drive from the heart of Kailua-Kona. This listing includes two 1400 sq.ft. houses (The Earthy Beach House and The Kumu House) with 6 bedrooms total, each with a queen bed. Prepare meals in the fully stocked kitchens and outdoor grills, stream your favorite entertainment on the Apple TV & HD projector in the evenings, and hit the beach with our complimentary sets of body boards, beach and snorkel gear. To make your stay comfortable, the home is well stocked with amenities like toiletries, beach towels, yoga gear, coffee/tea and more. In both homes, all three bedrooms are located on the second story, while downstairs you will find the kitchen, living, and dining rooms. Enjoy the outdoor lounging areas with string lights that make for a cozy relaxed vibe in the evenings. The picnic tables are perfect for casual outdoor family meals. The Kumu Compound is a private full home rental of 2 homes. To access our secure street, you will have to enter an entry code to get through the vehicle gate. Parking for two cars is directly adjacent to each house, under the carport, for a total of 4 vehicles. The houses are completely private. The hosts live nearby and are available if you need anything. The Kumu Compound is centrally located, yet tucked away on a quiet, gated private lane right off of Ali’i Drive. It is a safe and inviting residential neighborhood just two blocks away from the coastline. In just a few minutes, you can walk to Ali’i Gardens open-air marketplace for food and souvenirs or the Da Poke Shack, a local favorite for fresh fish. Turtle Beach, a secluded calm cove, is just a 5 minute walk away. The best parts of The Big Island are only accessible via car, so we recommend renting one for your visit. The Kumu Compound is 20 minutes from the Kona International Airport, and just a 5 min drive to Kahalu’u Beach Park for incredible snorkeling and Magic Sands for a day at the beach. In under 10 minutes, you can be in downtown Kailua-Kona where you can find many restaurants, shopping, and groceries. Please note, at the Kumu House - air conditioning is available in the living room and only two of the three bedrooms (split level system). The Earthy House has AC in all three bedrooms and the living room. Mail does not get delivered to the house. Use "General Delivery" to the Kailua-Kona post office.
