Now, for the first time in over a century, "The Suites" are available to be enjoyed as a vacation retreat. From the moment you drive up the cobble stone street in front of one of Merida’s historic churches - you know you are staying somewhere truly special! After managing one of Merida's most booked AirBnB villa for the past several years, Casa Escalera al Cielo - we decided to acquire the neighboring property to allow more guest the opportunity to stay in such an amazing location across from one of Merida's most beautiful church and park squares. These properties are the ONLY residential short term rentals that are located directly across from ANY of Merida's centro churches and squares! La Ermita Suites have been updated to U.S. standards and plumbing to allow the conviences of home while traveling abroad. This apartment is a single level home with 2 queen beds that will allow up to 4 guest to rest and relax comfortably. Enjoy the rear private courtyard in the morning as sip your first cup of coffee under the palms. This home is equipped with air conditioning to make sure you enjoy your time in the Yucatan and beat the heat! For those of us who need stay connected to reality, WiFi is provided so you can stay up to date or turn on the 55 inch smart TV and catch the latest show on your Netflix account. Make the most of your vacation in Merida's Downtown and book your only opportunity to enjoy the amazing views of a 17th century church directly out your front door! This apartment is approx. 750 sq feet with it's own private front entry. The unit has been remodeled to U.S. specs so you can enjoy the simple things - like flushing toilet paper down the toilet! You also have your own private rear courtyard to enjoy the outdoors. Behind your private and gated backyard you have access to a shared laundry area that you can use to wash your clothes. Merida is a truly magical city and the historical downtown is amazing! La Ermita Suites is right in the middle of it all so you can walk wherever you'd like to go! La Ermita is a quaint area of El Centro with beautiful cobblestone streets and underground utilities. Directly across the street from the home is Parque de La Ermita as well as the historic church from the 1600's - La Ermita de Santa Isabel. Just a short walk 7 blocks north you'll find yourself in the heart of the city at the Plaza Grande which is surrounded by numerous cultural centers, museums, & the governors palace. You're in the historic downtown - walk wherever you need to go! You can also take a Taxi but I'd suggest Uber for convenience and cost savings if you'd like to take a ride anywhere in the city. If you do have a car there is no assigned or off-street parking but street parking is more than ample if front of the home and around the church and park across the street. IMPORTANT - Do not park in front of the house early Sunday mornings. The city does a public bicycle ride on Sundays and the street in front of the home temporarily becomes a 2-way street for a few hours to accommodate the bicyclist. The city will tow your car that morning if it's parked along Calle 66 when they set up for the city bicycle ride. Please note - due to the popularity of "The Suites" and the frequency of bookings, our cleaning crews are diligently working to make sure the units are properly sanitized and cleaned between reservations. They need the allotted time for a proper cleaning and we are unable to accommodate early check ins or late checkouts on these units.
