Located on the southeast side of the island overlooking the scenic Bottle Creek Lagoon, the village is the largest settlement on the North Caicos and has most of the larger shops and government offices on the island. The south end of Bottle Creek village also has several rental villas and a restaurant. THE TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS for North Caicos and Middle Caicos at this time are limited to rental cars and jeeps, and taxis. There is no public transport of any kind. Attractions and stores tend to be spread over both islands, so it's highly recommended that you rent a vehicle for the duration of your stay. Due to the low populations, light traffic, and that fact that the main roads are paved, most will find driving to be easy and stress-free. We do however recommend caution when driving on unpaved and poor quality roads. In many of the low-lying areas, flooded potholes on dirt roads may be deeper than they initially appear to be. Navigation on North and Middle Caicos is linear and not difficult, yet due to a lack of signage it can be easy to miss some of the attractions such as Cottage Pond, Flamingo Pond Overlook, and Indian Cave, so you’ll want to have a map. Maps are often provided by the rental agency, but supplies can be limited at times so consider printing your own North Caicos and Middle Caicos maps. The speed limit is 40 mph (64 km/h) on highways and 20 mph (32 km/h) through settlements. Please drive slowly and carefully when traveling through settlements. Once landed in Providenciales, you catch a small passenger ferry services being offered between Providenciales and North Caicos. These small passenger ferry vessels, which seat between 10 and 40 people, are used for these routes. The ferries do not offer the capacity for cars and vehicles. Technically, there are luggage weight restrictions on most ferries, yet these are rarely enforced. Reservations are not typically required for the ferry services, yet are recommended for large groups, or when holidays or events are taking place. To North Caicos via ferries (30 minutes each way) operate several times per day, and travel between Heaving Down Rock Marina (Walkin Marina) and Bellefield Landing on North Caicos. These services are convenient for day trips. Rates are $30 per-person one way, and $55 round trip (2022).
