Private Guest suite in our delightfully renovated plantation house suite right in downtown Pahoa Village! We live in the adjoining hale and offer our private 2 bedroom guest suite with separate entrance, living room, bathroom and simple kitchen with custom lighted "lava" kitchen counter This unit is located right in old Pahoa village, walking distance to restaurants, bars, churches, county park, and public pool. The space is clean, newly renovated, and fully insulated. THERE IS NO AC! There is a washer and dryer available in the carport for your shared use. We live on site and can be reached best by text or call should you need anything. This is the Puna countryside and you may see our family working in the yard on our permaculture food forests or spreading mulch/compost from piles in our yard as we seek to cultivate in the jungle here. There may be childrens boots on the entry mat or a slew of flip flops (we call them "slippahs" in Hawaii) as we remove our shoes before entering homes here and kindly ask you to join us. Our house is on a peaceful street behind the main road in pahoa town with a spacious yard overlooking jungle. Very unique location so close to heart of downtown but yet surrounded by nature. We are 15 minutes to Stunning black sand beach (clothing optional). 20 min drive to the newest lava beach on Earth (!!!!) and geothermal pond. Ten min drive to the ocean cliffs market at Uncle Roberts (daily food shops and a wed night market with live music or Saturday morning market. Makuu Sunday market is a few minutes away with food vendors, local made products, produce. A few minutes walk away are restaurant, shops, and natural food store, a playground and free outdoor Olympic size pool.. It is highly recommended to rent a car to explore the diverse and rural attractions if the area most fully but there is a free bus that travels the island. Our house is a few minutes walk(less than 5) from downtown pahoa that had a health food store, shops, kava kombucha bar, organic sourdough bakery, live music and island cuisine, Thai, italian, vegan gelato shop and more. We are honored to welcome you to stay with us and enjoy your private guest suite at our home, a classic plantation home in pahoa town off the beaten path, but very close to the convenience of downtown. We have renovated this old plantation Hale in the jungle and aim to keep it airy, clean and healthy. We clean and treat regularly for our jungle neighbors who want to come inside: geckos, frogs, sugar ants, fruit flies, and roaches… We also need your help, which means it’s very important to wash dishes after use , wipe counters clean and keep food stored properly in the fridge to not tempt them! Being in rural Hawaii, you may see a few critters who sneak in through doors or hidden cracks so please also keep doors closed. The tropics means a lot of life and if you are extra sensitive to these things, we suggest considering a hotel room or one of the other 13 climates of the Big Island. Mahalo! We clean with non toxic cleaning products containing essential oils and do not use products like Lysol or febreeze airspray and ask you not to use those in our home!
