Relax after your day of sightseeing along the Hamakua Coast and Volcano National Park in a restored traditional plantation house. You have the first floor to yourself, including two bedrooms, living room, kitchenette and bathroom. Washer and dryer available. Picnic outside in the garden or rest in the hammock. Centered between Volcano and beaches on the east side, with quick, easy access from Hwy 19, you will be located near Laupanhoehoe Point, Akaka Falls, and the Hawaii Tropical Gardens. You will be staying on the first floor of a two story traditional plantation home from the sugar cane era in a small community on the Hamakua coast. Off-street parking and private entry are provided. Dine at the table inside or outside at the picnic table in the garden. The kitchenette is perfect for a quick meal, with a microwave, new countertop induction cooktop with pots & pans, plates & utensils, and a refrigerator. Then, relax on the comfy sofas in the living room while using complimentary WIFI to stream on your personal device. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed with a new mattress, the other with a twin trundle bed great for older children or additional guests. There is also a blow-up double bed, if you prefer, for a small fee. Guest are welcome to view the garden and use the picnic table and hammock in the back yard. A shared washer and dryer are provided out back with clothesline available for picking up the scent of the fresh Hawaiian breezes. Let me know when you will arrive as I would like to be there to greet you! If you have any questions during your stay, just come knock on my door! Located right on the coastline of the Hamakua coast is the small, historic community of Kapehu from the sugar cane era in Papa'aloa . There is easy access off Highway 19, with no steep, confusing, dirt backroads, which is common on the island. Take a walk around the quiet neighborhood and enjoy the ocean view. There is the local Papa'aloa country grocery store with both take out and sit in meals served along with evening entertainment literally a couple of minutes down the road, along with the Minit Stop convenience store and gas station, the only food and gas available between Honokaa and Hilo. The town's public outdoor pool is also only minutes away. Easy access from Highway 19. Take highway 19 from either the Kona or Hilo airports driving north. It is about 1.5 hours from the Kona airport. Take highway 19 north up the coast, turning right up the hill to Waimea. Turn left at the traffic light in Waimea and follow the highway down and around to Papa'aloa. From Hilo it is about 30 minutes north on highway 19. GPS will get you to the neighborhood in Papa'aloa. From there follow these instructions. The neighborhood is rectangular, divided by 3 streets. After turning off the highway, turn right on the one way road which will quickly turn down toward the ocean (the street to the south of the community). Hamakua Holiday Hale is the 3rd house down on the left. Sometimes GPS will take you to the center road so follow the directions above. Located in a SAFE location, since it is north of Hilo on the Hamakua Coast (unlike possibly Hilo or Kona), it is only a short distance to witness the natural phenomena of these volcanos! This is a quiet community and it is requested that you follow the state quiet hours of 9pm.-8am. Children over 8 years old are welcome. WIFI is provided. Phone service is very limited in this area, but WIFI calling is available. No animals allowed. No partying, smoking or drugs allowed.
