“Peaceful & Breezy, Sprawling Ocean Views, Great Location in Lower Puna with Horses Grazing Nearby….. Welcome to our Sacred Kipuka!” This family ranch was covered by the 2018 Kilauea Volcano. Rebuilding began in 2020 of spectacular new grounds. A breezy Cottage on the Hill - quietude, drinking water from the sky, power from the sun, propane for hot water. The views are stunning: Pele’s lava, ocean panoramas, horses. Located off the red road & Isaac Hale Beach, the heartbeat of Lower Puna. Welcome to your little off-grid home in the middle of Tutu Peles house (her lava flow). You are gifted with a very special micro climate - the tradewinds blow away the usual humidity, rain or bugs of the East side but arent as dry as the West side. Days are pleasant with breezy ocean winds and nights lull you to sleep with the comfort of the rain and chirping cocqui frogs. Welcome to the Hawaiian’s will to live as closely to nature as possible. All of our properties are handsomely built, as guests often repeat “this is exactly how I would build my Hawaii Hale.” Half walls that are professionally screened in adorn your Hale as well as ours. We especially the natural airflow and living off grid. We are pleased to be expanding and offering our magical area, truly alive with Love & Loss, Ying & Yang, Pressure & Release, with travelers from beyond. It is a place to sit with gratitude and self and find Connection or Re-Connection with all Living Things. All of the horses are aware of visitors, the dogs may give a bark out to say hello and, no doubt, Jeffrey the farm cat will probably stroll by for a visit. After all, the Horse Hale is her home and you are her beloved guests - never a free lap! Your beautiful Hale has half walls, totally enclosed and critter-free and screened on the upper half. There is an ultra plush queen bed, twin bed and 1 comfy indoor hammock. Outside is your kitchenette, restroom and propane shower. If you would like to use our washer/dryer, we will maunder for you as to be sensitive to off grid needs. Our family while just a short walk away, truly feels completely separate. We appreciate our privacy as much as im sure you do. But it is never ever a bother to text me any needs:)) We will be as quiet as possible during the morning farm routine. The riding school operates most weekends on the lower half, which you cannot hear from your Hale but can enjoy the view of riders & horses. Finally, depending on multiple weather factors, beach beetles blow through from time to time. There is an outdoor bug zapper to help. They are attracted to light and manage to find the tiniest crevices to get in. So should it be one of those evenings, mind your lights, that is whats attracting them! Aloha! You do not need 4- wheel drive, the roads are accessible by any car. You do, however, need to open and close horse gates to reach your Hale. Please mind the gates. As we are off-grid, the solar lights will only be as bright as the sun was that day. Please use care and caution around all the animals. Aloha! Myself and my 5 children live on the farm if you need us. We are near but separate enough so that everyones privacy is maintained! The neighborhood is gated and safe and quiet. It is a farming community. Lower Puna is almost entirely off grid. We like being away from the hustle and bustle. We like our rain as all of us grow food, harvest animals and just enjoy living independently. There is only one way in and out until more roads are re-opened and that is through our extraordinarily beautiful mango grove (which we can also ride through!). You are minutes to the newly formed black sand beach at Isaac Hale (Pohoiki) and hot ponds. You are also a short drive to Uncle Roberts and several farmers markets. Check-in time is set before 7p. Farm life is demanding and i cant always be up for late arrivals (please dont ding my communication review if you arrive after 7p and im asleep)! Just lmk me know in advance and we will do everything we can to make sure you arrive safely! Our riding school is on the lower premises and is usually bustling with horse activity from 7-5p weekends. It should not impact your stay, however you will hear the call of horses and other animals waiting to be fed each morning! Visit the Horses or Ride them, prices vary, just send me a message! “Highly recommend! Clearly a woman of strength and love that is rebuilding her entire life (after the lava took over her place). Kumu Samantha is Naturally amazing with Keiki and Horses of course! With the team of three combined, this place is a powerhouse of knowledge, love and FUN!” — Amanda Cox “This is the best place for kids to learn to ride on the island or anywhere else! Sam is gentle but firm as a teacher and always takes her time to explain things and let you get comfortable. If we still lived on the island, we would be here every week, if only for the lovely view. The lessons are a mega bonus!” — Michelle Kennedy “Amazing teacher who guides people in being present with their horses and community. If you want to learn how to live with Aloha then go to Beyond the Gaits.” — Devon Colleen
