This is an independent unit with an electronically locking front door. Its a conveniently located and beautifully decorated flat with a bedroom, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a common area. The bed can hold two people, as can the sofa bed. This makes it perfect for one person or even a small family or group of friends. We have put a lot of effort into redecorating this flat, mainly because we believe that it will enhance your experience. But do help us to keep it clean so that others can enjoy it too. Directions and Helpful Tips: Getting to the flat is easy. We will provide the address upon completion of the booking. We recommend that all guests consult Google Maps prior to their arrival or the map photo in the photos section of this listing. The flat is not hard to find, provided you examine the map. From the Airport: - Airport Express/MTR: The closest Airport Express stop is at Kowloon Station (HK$90). It contains the arrival and in-town check-in facilities for the airport. It is located 10 minutes from the flat on foot. You may take a taxi from this station to reach the flat. Or you can take the Airport Express to Tsing Yi (HK$60), followed by the MTR orange line (direction Hong Kong) to Nam Cheong, and the MTR purple line (direction Hung Hom) to Austin. Austin Station (Exit B5 or Exit A) is less than five minutes away on foot. If you come out of Exit B5, take the footbridge to Man Sing Street and walk north to Man Yuen Street. If you come out of Exit A, take the tunnel to Jordan Road/Ferry Street and walk north on Ferry Street to Man Yuen Street (look for Vanguard supermarket). - Bus: Take bus A22 from the airport to Shanghai Street, then walk west on Jordan Road and north on Ferry Street to the Man Yuen Street intersection (look for Vanguard supermarket). The walk should take five minutes. This is the cheapest option. If you do not have an Octopus card, you may use the airport kiosk. Note that buses in Hong Kong take exact change or Octopus payment. - Taxi: You may take a taxi directly from the airport. Budget at least HK$250 to the neighborhood where the flat is situated. If the driver has any trouble with the address, tell him to go to Austin Station. That will work every time. Getting in the Building: Note that this is a self-check-in flat. We will provide you with the downstairs and upstairs door codes so that you can access the flat. Also, note that the building has a big footprint and several entrances. Use the entrance closest to Ferry Street. Neighborhood Overview: This flat is in a vibrant neighborhood. Downstairs, there are many shops and restaurants where you can sample the local cuisine, as well as a supermarket. Many eating options, and souvenirs too, are also available in the famous Temple Street Night Market, located just five minutes away on foot. Make sure to look for Tin Hau Temple, one of the oldest temples in the neighborhood and a major landmark. It is north of the expressway. And while you are in the neighborhood, make sure you do not miss the Jade Market off Kansu Street. It is also nearby. For a luxury shopping experience, walk 10 minutes to Tsim Sha Tsuis Canton Road, or walk to the Elements mall, located just ten minutes away under the ICC, Hong Kongs tallest building. You can even top off a trip to the mall with a visit to the ICCs Ozone, the worlds highest bar. The view from the 118th floor is stunning. Round off your trip with a short MTR ride to Tsim Sha Tsui. Thats where the best nighttime harbor views are found. Tsim Sha Tsui also holds Kowloon Park, the Star Ferry. It is a very busy neighborhood that is one of Hong Kongs most diverse. It holds many small shops selling everything from suits to watches to electronics. Also, make sure you wander into Mong Kok, located across Nathan Road, the major north-south artery road that bisects Kowloon. Mong Kok is one of Hong Kongs densest areas and is filled to the brim with all sorts of shops and restaurants. Famous markets in the area include the Ladies Market (on Tung Choi Street south of Argyle Street), the Flower and Bird Markets (north of Prince Edward Road West and west of Sai Yee Street), the Goldfish Market (on Tung Choi Street north of Burd Street) and the Sai Yeung Choi electronics market. It becomes a pedestrian zone on weekends after 4pm. The Ladies Market is a famous souvenir market. The Bird Market has an amazing diversity of birds and bird products on sale. The Flower Market and Goldfish Markets are what the names suggest. Sai Yeung Choi Street is a mecca for electronics sales. It also comes to life when the cars leave. Street performers are a common sight at night, especially on the weekend. On the weekend, Mong Kok can get very crowded. In particular, it is popular among working class Hongkongers, especially younger ones. There is much to see, much to do, and much to eat. Getting Around: From point A to point B: MTR: The closest MTR station is Austin Station (Exit B5 or Exit A), located just minutes from the flat. You may come out of Exit B5, take the footbridge to Man Sing Street and walk north to Man Yuen Street. Or you may come out of Exit A, take the tunnel to Jordan Road/Ferry Street and walk north on Ferry Street to Man Yuen Street (look for Vanguard supermarket). The MTR will take you most places you wish to go. You may purchase single-journey tickets or an Octopus card for convenient local travel. Bus: There is a bus stop on Ferry Street between Man Yuen Street and Man Ying Street. Buses to Tsim Sha Tsui depart from here. You may also take the MTR. Note that buses require exact change or Octopus payment. Taxi: There are plenty of taxis in this area. Flagfall is currently HK$22. Drivers almost always remember to use the meter, but do pay attention. Also, if you plan to travel longer distances by taxi, or plan to cross the harbor, be aware that passengers are responsible for toll payments. Foot: We like to walk unless the distance is greater than that of one MTR stop. In general, most of the area is accessible by foot, although it does help to be in good health if you intend to rely on this mode of transport. Rickshaw: Yes, that would be nice. But they do not exist anymore. Getting to Major Tourist Sites: Disneyland: You may reach it by taking the orange line from Kowloon Station under the ICC to Sunny Bay, then transferring to the Disneyland line. Bug Buddha/Tai O: Take the orange line from Kowloon Station to Tung Chung, then change to a bus at the Tung Chung bus depot. To reach the Big Buddha, you may also take the cable cars from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping. Ocean Park: Citybus route 629 runs from the Central Star Ferry Terminal and from Admiralty MTR. Stanley Market: From Exchange Square in Central, you may take busses 6, 6X or 260. Buses 6X and 260 also pass by Deepwater Bay and Repulse Bay, each of which has a beach. Mainland Border: In case you are heading to Shenzhen, you may take the MTR East Rail Line. Austin Station is on the West Rail Line. Take this line to Hung Hom, where you can transfer to the East Rail Line. Macau: Ferries depart frequently from the China Ferry Terminal on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui and from the Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island. Outlying Islands: Ferries to Mui Wo on Lantau Island, Lamma Island, Cheung Chau and Peng Chau depart frequently from the row of piers next to the Central Star Ferry Pier. Ferries typically depart every half hour.
