We were thrilled when this 6th floor penthouse condo in the heart of Kihei became available! It offered everything that we love about visiting Maui. It's across the street from a beginner surf break & next door to a surf school so we could walk outside our door, pick up surfboards and walk across the street to surf. It's a gorgeous walk to our FAVORITE beach, and next door to a variety of restaurants, shops and a grocery store. So we arrive, park, and have everything we love at our fingertips! We were excited for location, but then we went into the condo and WOW! The views! The views! THE VIEWS! I couldn't believe we had both ocean AND mountain views. I love seeing the sun rise over the emerald green landscape of Kula and set over the ocean. I can sit on the lanai and never leave and be perfectly happy. Better yet though, we can switch it up from time to time and catch the scenery from Kalama Park right across the street. We were excited to have everything in walking distance, so it was a bonus to get one parking spot which makes it easy to jump in the rental car to explore other parts of Maui that we love. And I haven't even mentioned the condo yet! Well, the view - no photo can do it justice! But we were also taken by the spaciousness of the one-bedroom condo. I expected a cramped kitchen and living room typical of Maui condos, but this condo is wide with plenty of counter space in the kitchen and floor space in the living room. The same was true for the bedroom. There's a king bed without feeling cramped. Similarly, the lanais typically have barely enough space to walk around the patio chairs, but this one was as spacious as the rest of the condo. We knew we'd hit the jackpot and couldn't be happier to share our good fortune with others! That's not to say it's not without it's flaws. It's an old building after all. The main one is how breezy it gets when both the lanai and front door are open. Make sure you don't have loose paperwork on the dining table! I've grown to love sitting at that table though because it's the best spot for staying cool without using the AC and having to close the doors. Lastly, while it's spacious, we've limited guests to 2 because the couch is not a sleeper and we do not have any other additional sleeping options. We are open to making an exception but we want to make sure you're comfortable and have all that you need so we're happy to discuss your circumstance with you. Guests rent the entire condo and have it all to themselves for the duration of their reservation. I am only a phone call away and love hearing from our guests! I want guests to love the condo and Maui as much as we do so I'm always available to do what I can to ensure that you're having a good time. I live in Colorado so the time difference can be an issue depending on when you call. If it can't wait, we have also hired a management company as a backup so your needs are always met. The neighborhood is what we fell in love with first! If you don't already know this, Kihei is the sunny and dry side of the island. With beach after beach to enjoy, you're almost guaranteed to have cooperating weather to enjoy them year round. We especially like this location because it's just north of the three Kamaole beaches and closest to our favorite, Charley Young Beach. From that beach, we can best walk the length of Kamaole Beach 1, 2 and 3 when we're looking to really stretch our legs. In the evening (or for breakfast or lunch), we are only one block to the nearest restaurant options. Unlike much of Kihei and Maui, there are several great options without having to jump in your car. We love being able to stroll to meals and cocktails without having to eat at the same place every other night! Getting around is easy! When you decide to explore beyond everything offered in walking distance, you can jump on the bus to get around Kihei or even up to Kahului for just $2 a ride or $4 for a day pass (this route excludes the airport which requires getting on the Upcountry or Heiku bus routes in Kahului). Better yet, jump in your rental car to explore every square inch of well-paved roads around the island! We have access to ONE parking spot and you must have the vehicle registration form clearly placed on the dashboard. Please note that because this condo is in the heart of town, you do get noise from the road and from the park. Hawaii is all about outdoor living and those living there take full advantage by spending time outside with family and friends at the parks and beaches.
