This could be your quintessential carioca (Rio's) experience! This pretty apt is in the outskirts of the Vidigal favela, the most famous, safe and touristic favela in Brazil. It's close to the main road and beach, so you'll only have to climb around 100 stairs to get here. We save u on gym! If you're up for this experience, here's more: The apartment is renovated. Only 20min walk to Leblon (the beach and one of Rio's most expensive part) and close to all the best beaches: Ipanema, Copacabana... It's a 2 bedroom apartment, nicely reformed and new. I usually occupy room2 and you have room1 to rent. The 4 person max is either in one room with mattress on the floor, or you can check if my room is also available and pay extra to rent it also. The rooms have no view (room 1 has a window to a closed space so no air either) but the balcony has a nice spot of the ocean! AC in both rooms! I eat there every day watching the waves. You'll access all public spaces: living room, washing, bathroom, kitchen and balcony. I work from home so I'm usually around (if not at a nearby nice café) and I can show you around the favela and around, no worries! But if I'm out traveling, we can always talk over the phone. But, whenever you go to the main square of the favela, the supermarket or to eat at the restaurants, you MAY (if you choose) pass by the boca (the stand where they sell drugs in the middle of the street out in the open surrounded by a bunch of guys with rifles and other types of ammunition). Also, you can't see the mess from the apartment, but as soon as you open the door…it's not a pretty sight. The favela, as you can see in the photo and probably know, is ugly, houses built very glued to each other, utility wires hang loosely from above, and some rats and cockroaches can be found in the street (in summer). So, if you're up for this hardcore experience, here's the better part: It's only a 10min walk to Vidigal beach (Sheraton), 20min walk (or 5 by bike) to Leblon (the beautiful beach and one of Rio's most expensive neighborhoods) and close enough to all the beaches Rio is so famous for: Ipanema, Copacabana etc. Also a beautiful trek up the mountain here, with rapel and astonishing views (see profile). Lots of public transportation, bus, van, Uber, scooter-taxi etc. and you're close to all you need and want to see in Rio!
