Step back in time to the late 19th century in this very sunny, completely and thoughtfully restored apartment in the center of downtown on a quiet street. Walk to all that downtown has to offer, with easy access to the Amtrak train station, restaurants, and cafes. Or enjoy the trails across the street. Unscented, ecofriendly laundry/cleaning products are used. Sustainability practices abound for an environmentally-conscious stay. Free early check in or late check-out offered when available. Sleep in cotton sheets on an organic Avocado latex mattress in a huge, sun-drenched 14 x 18 bedroom, with an attached 5 x 7 workspace alcove. Or settle into a cozy bedroom with an antique iron double bed, under a Pottery Barn linen duvet. The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the apartment, maximizing privacy. The kitchen has what you will need to prepare meals, in a carefully curated space reminiscent of simpler times. The bathroom with wood walls and an antique clawfoot tub and rainfall showerhead has unscented, human and earth-friendly soap, shampoo, and conditioner for your use. The living room, while modest in size, has wonderfully comfortable, locally made furniture, a smart tv, games, and a take it/leave it library. The hardwood floors are covered with beautiful wool antique oriental and hooked rugs. The apartment is on the second floor of a historic 1850 house and has its own private entrance. There is a small, sweet yard with an eating area and grill. This might be shared with others occasionally. Laundry facilities can be arranged for long term stays or with prior permission from host. I live in Northampton and am available by phone between 6 am and 9 pm. I am a very responsive host and am happy to help you plan your visit to Northampton. This is an amazing location a half mile walk from the train station. Walk to everything downtown from a large lot on a quiet street. The Roost Cafe is around the corner. Walking trails across the street, half a mile to entrance to Interstate 91 and the bridge to Hadley and Amherst. Walk to the Northampton Center for the Arts, and all of downtown's stores and restaurants. Smith College is less than a mile away, Cooley Dickinson Hospital 2 miles away. The bike path is nearby and there is bike storage in the garage. There is a PVTA bus stop nearby (route 39), parking, walking, the bike path and Valley Bike share. 1/2 mile walk from the train station. 0.8 miles to interstate 91. Please note: Guests are asked to refrain from using perfume, cologne, etc. to maintain the low scent environment for other guests. There is typically no one else in the building on weekends. Please read dog rules before booking.
