Villa Nelomoor, a detached villa just outside the center of Accra, has a great room "Deluxe" with a private bathroom. The villa has a fully equipped kitchen, a family room with a big flatscreen and a bar. The terrace - always sunny - has beautiful garden furniture and a parasol. It is a safe place, completely walled, equipped with its own entrance gate, and monitored by cameras overall. The place is suited for a group traveling or a family with children to retreat as well as to discover Accra. The villa was built in 2014 for a large family. There are four attractive guest rooms that can be booked separately: "Basic" - "Standard" - "Deluxe" and "Superior". It is also possible to book the villa in its entirety, choose the option "Entire Villa". The decor is very warm and personal, the Dutch-Norwegian owners have combined African and European furniture and art. The size of the villa is 240m2 and it comes with a manager and a 4X4 Toyota. There is a parking space on the enclosed grounds for your own car. You have access to the "Deluxe" room, one of the four bookable private guest rooms with a private bathroom. There is a shared living room with flat screen TV and comfortable sofas. A cozy bar and a space for working online is also shared with other guests, as is the fully equipped kitchen. The sunny terrace with tropical plants, garden furniture and parasol is also shared with the other guests, there is an annex with a bathroom and toilet to use when sunbathing or relaxing on the terrace. There are parking spaces within the walled and secure grounds. The owners Mel & Henri are usually not in the villa, in their absence their job is taken over by the caretaker. He is always nearby and gives you peace of mind - however - if you need him or want contact, he will be there for you. Messages via the airbnb website or app are read by both the owners and the caretaker. The caretaker lives in the fifth bedroom on the first floor and is always close by for meals, drinks, excursion guidance, advice, and maintenance of the villa. After arriving the caretaker will show you around the villa and explain all the facilities. Make sure you tell the caretaker when you are going to shower, he will start the water pressure pump, then you can enjoy the rain shower to the fullest. The caretaker will always ask you about your arrival time, he will then be at the villa to personally check you in or pick you up from Kotoka Airport. Please inform the caretaker of your check-out time. The villa is in Ashongman Estates, against the hills on the north side of Accra. In the rainy season the roads, not all paved, can be difficult to pass. With the 4X4 Toyota, our caretaker has a lot of experience in safely transporting guests. The area has great contrasts, from beautiful overgrown green hills to dump sites of waste and from rich villas to slum dwellings. The inhabitants are friendly and harmonious, children can be very curious. Places of interest are the Accra slavery museum and slave forts, with Elmina being the most important. Most forts are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Also, the beautiful Labadi beach and the tropical rainforest north of Accra are points of interest. Villa Nelomoor has its own transport to pick you up and drop you off from Kotoka airport. The caretaker is willing to be your driver in the region for a fee. Day trips can be arranged with him on site. There is hardly any public transport financed by the state or municipal government in Accra. The current options available to Ghanaians are trotros, a few bus services, ride-hailing services, and a train system which is not widespread. In Accra, 70% of daily commuting is done by informal minibuses called Trotos. Trotro vehicles are products of the 1960s in Ghana. They were first introduced for the transportation of goods for cocoas farmers. Currently, trotros are the main means of transportation in Accra and other cities in the country. They are the cheapest and most convenient means of transportation, but they aren’t the safest, and the maintenance culture of these vehicles is not up to par. The poor driving behavior of trotro drivers is also not something to be admired. Payment is normally done by cash and learning about the routes is sometimes more of experience than finding the information openly available online. Currently, the most popular ride-hailing apps in Ghana are Uber and Bolt. It is a safe place, completely walled, with its own entrance gate and monitored by cameras. There are no cameras in the bedrooms or bathrooms. There is one bedroom on the ground floor, the "Standard". The three others are on the first floor. It's an easy climb up, see the photos of the stairwell. The living room, dining area, bar, kitchen, and patio are for the use of all our guests. Other guests can book the other three bedrooms. The caretaker lives in the fifth room on the first floor and is always close by for meals, drinks, excursion guidance, advice, and maintenance of the villa. Smoking is allowed outside on the patio. Events up to 50 people are allowed outside on the patio. Visitors to the event do not have access to the villa. Toilet and washing facilities are available on the patio. At an event, extra costs are always charged for security guards and cleaning. To book the whole villa you must select Villa Nelomoor "Entire Villa" and the option 8 adults or more. If you are with fewer people, we advise you to book one or more of our other options: "Basic" room "Standard room "Deluxe" room "Superior" room These options are cheaper and are also an opportunity to meet other guests.
