From the complex you will have direct beach access as well as access to the pool & outdoor showers, beach and pool access is open until 6:00pm and has no life guard on duty. There is also a laundry room on the main floor you will have access to as well. You will have access to 1 parking space in the garage, the common areas of Sandy hills including the beach access, pool, outdoor shower (please rinse sand off before returning to the condo), and laundry room all on the ground floor. We are in the east tower, 19th floor. There are elevators for your convenience, but please keep in mind, we do live on an island and at times lose power. Usually these things are handled and restored quicky but at times could take longer. Sandy Hills has 24hr security and is gated complex. We are a message or a call away. 1 co-host lives close by. Sandy Hills is 30-40 minutes away from San Juan Airport, Carolina an easy drive straight down on the highway. Offering many near by activities: Walking distance to many local eateries, bars and beaches. East side of condo is a nature preserve for the sea turtles. 1 min-La Pared surfing beach 5 mins- to Amigo grocery store and Walgreens 5 mins-to Luquillo Beach-offers jet ski to rent and Los Kioskos 15 mins-to Walmart 15mins-Carabali Rainforest Park-horseback riding, ATV and other attractions 20 mins-to Marina Puerto del Rey Catamaran tour to the island of Icacos. 20 mins-to El Yunque Rainforest 30 mins-to Bio Bay Kayak tours 40 mins-to Ceiba ferry to 2 separate islands in Puerto Rico Vieques and Culebra 45mins-to Old San Juan, El Morro Highly recommended to rent a car with paid tolls so you can explore outside of Luquillo and around the island. Overall it is safe to drive around and explore by using cell phone map. If you get lost most of the locals speaks English for directions. Check out our list of places for recommendations. We strongly recommend renting a vehicle during your stay if you plan on venturing beyond the beautiful Luquillo beach and plaza areas. Uber availability outside of San Juan can be limited. However, local taxi services and tours are available for transportation. Renting a vehicle offers greater flexibility and efficiency for exploring the area at your own pace. Consider reserving your excursions 2-3 weeks before arrival. We are Located on La Pared surf beach; we recommend keeping an eye on beach flags red or greens for safer swimming. Options for safer swimming; short 5-10-minute walk west will lead you to La Punta, Playa Azul beach, and Punta Bandera beach for additional enjoyment or 5-minute drive to la Monserrate El Balneario. Luquillo, Puerto Rico, offers a fantastic vacation experience with its stunning beaches, water activities, nearby rainforest adventures, historic Old San Juan, and delectable local cuisine. Puerto Rico is an overall safe and welcoming destination where you can freely explore and enjoy the local culture. The food is outstanding, and while English may not be fluent everywhere, most locals speak it in tourist areas. A little patience and understanding go a long way in communicating and immersing yourself in the vibrant Puerto Rican culture.
