Mahali Pazuri is the downstairs unit of a two-storey guest house, located within a beautiful family-owned property that is surrounded by indigenous forest, right on Diani Beach. A large spacious en-suite bedroom with a kingsize bed (plus a single bed) and dressing room. There is a lovely sitting room, small kitchen and outside verandah. This is one of the few beach-front properties that still boasts its indigenous trees. Monkeys, including the endangered black-and-white Angolan colobus monkey frequently visit the plot during the day; and at night the greater galagos (bush babies) can be heard calling from the tree-tops and are often seen too, if you put out some fruit for them at night! Since we are closely surrounded by forest, you may also encounter monitor lizards, geckos, baboons, squirrels and possibly other species that live here. If you are not comfortable with this, then this is not the place for you sadly ... We are located close to all amenities, beach bars/restaurants, shops, banks, scuba diving, snorkelling trips, golf. Scuba diving facilities are located at Nomads which is just a few minutes walk along the beach, while a kite surfing school is located just outside our property, on the beach. The glass bottom boat trip to the reef and sandbank is recommend for snorkelling. There are many local Diani tour operators selling day trips to nearby Shimba Hills or further national parks like Tsavo or Amboseli. We can share the contact for a lady who comes to the house to give massages as well as manicures and pedicures. The guest house is positioned slightly behind our family home and the walk through the garden to reach the beach is approximately 100 meters. My parents (Jane and Mike) live on the property in the main house. They are generally around if you have any questions or concerns that you would like addressing in person. Diani Beach has been voted the 'Best Beach in Africa' for many years with good reason; the perfectly white sandy beach stretches for kilometers along the balmy Indian Ocean coast. Getting around is very easy as there is only one main road up and down the beach. An assortment of bars, shopping centers, cafés and restaurants line the road (please see our Diani Beach guide book). There are taxis, 'boda bodas' (motor bikes), mini vans and 'tuk tuks' available at the top of our drive. We suggest taking a taxi at night, we use Taxi John (you will have access to his number once your booking is confirmed). Lots of shops, cafes, pharmacies, a bank etc a few minutes away. There is plenty of wildlife on this plot as well as some very friendly dogs who will possibly want to accompany you to the beach. If you do not want them to join you, just let us know and we can hold them back. We also have kids books, toys, snorkelling gear and possibly anything else that you wish to borrow from us. Please just ask us for these. We provide drinking water via a counter top water purification unit. Please do not drink the tap water at any point. It is, however, fine for brushing your teeth and boiling to make tea and coffee. Personal laundry can be done at a nearby laundromat for a small fee.
