Dragonfly house sits at the edge of an expansive lava field, filled with native ohia trees and wild orchids. As you sit comfortably in this modern tropical suite, with floor to ceiling windows and french doors, you can look out at the ocean in the distance across the lava. The open concept, as well as the wall of french doors, make this bright airy suite feel like your space stretches to the outside. The covered lanai is ready for you to enjoy breakfast, curl up with a good book or just relax. The Dragonfly suite consists of the entire lower floor of the house and is a modern, open concept suite. It can sleep 2 people in a comfy king sized bed. There are no bedrooms, it is a large open space, with a cozy living area and table and chairs. It has a small but well equipped kitchen, with a fridge, stovetop, microwave, toaster oven and most general kitchen supplies. The oven does not work, but the stovetop does. There is a washer and dryer in the suite as well as a beautiful bathroom with a large walk in shower. There is high speed internet available, as well as a large screen television. The suite does not have cable, but the TV is great for streaming from your own Netflix or Amazon Prime account. There is a small lanai, where you can enjoy sitting or dining, while feeling the breeze from the ocean, and the warmth of the sun. You will often see rainbows while enjoying your stay. The property is adjacent to state land on which a lava flow stretches all the way to the ocean. The lava is scattered with Ohia trees and wild orchids. You will be able to see the ocean from the lanai. Occasionally, you may hear mild noise transfer from the people living upstairs. Usually this should just be walking noise, or some normal day to day noise. We will adhere to the quiet hours, but please know ahead of time that you may hear us moving around. Please note, you will need to climb 7 stairs to enter the suite. We are located at the end of a quiet cul de sac, in Seaview Estates. Seaview estates is a neighborhood on the south east side of the Big Island. It is located about a mile from the ocean. The closest services are approximately 20 minutes away by car. There is one parking space provided in the driveway of the main house. There are 7 steps required to enter the suite. The suite is equipped with high speed wireless internet. The space does not have AC, but with the french doors and windows open, you can easily take advantage of the ocean trade winds. Kehena beach, the gorgeous black sand beach, is about a 5 min drive away. There is a guest cottage on the property that is located behind the gate in the fenced yard. You do not have access to the yard as it is for the other suite. You may see other guests walking by on the sidewalk to access the gate. I love hosting guests in our Dragonfly House and have lots of tips for visitors Seaview is a quiet neighborhood about 5 minutes drive from Kehena beach. There is a small park a 5 min walk from our space. You will have one dedicated parking space in the driveway It is very dark after sunset, as there are not street lights. This makes it incredible for looking at the stars, but we suggest you bring/use a flashlight or headlamp if you are going to walk around outside at night.
