By Bader Oulamine Before I begin, I would like to acknowledge the true beauty of this heavenly village. I always felt this place was incomparable to any other. Miles and miles of green hills, mountains arrestingly dramatic in appearance and wonderland forests; all together bring a distinct soothing breeze that makes Ain Leuh one of a kind. Ain Leuh is located in the heart of the Atlas, a few miles from the National Park of Ifrane. It covers 37,202 hectares, bordering the province of Ifrane and the region of Meknes Tafilalet. This magical place is unique due to its location at the top of the Atlas Mountains, in which if you were flying over the village you would think of Ain Leuh as an imaginary painting. Its historical architecture is a great mishmash between buildings and gardens with trees, pathways, and water springs. The climate of this region is delightful with mild summers and snowy winters for ski lovers. The village is surrounded by fields of cherry trees and forests of oaks and cedars. The cedar forest that surrounds the city is a major source of life for residents. The region is known for its weekly open markets, which are held every Wednesday. Ain Leuh an Arabic word, can be translated to ‘the source of wood’, because of its known giant cedar trees. My grandparents say that the village has always been known as a very pivotal source of wood. It was also known as the Carrefour and an oasis for tribes coming from far away.
