Located in pristine Cousins Cove, a beautiful quiet fishing village away from the tourist traps. You can spend your days snorkeling, swimming, fishing, lazing in a hammock, chillin out in the "Cool Pool", sipping a rum (or two) playing dominoes yet all within 15 minutes of Negril's 7 mile beach. Reef Cottage offers the perfect secluded get away and possibly the best snorkeling in Jamaica. In the glistening crystal clear waters you will often see giant rays basking on the seabed, a rainbow of colourful fish as well as beautiful corals all protected by the reef. Check out the local fisherman and pick up his fresh catch including Lobster and crab during season or visit Byron's Bar situated across from the waters edge. The cottage also boasts a unique "Cool Pool" (plunge pool) overlooking the rocks and the sea where you can cool off during the day. There is a double hammock located in the shade of the trees overlooking the Caribbean, a perfect spot to relax. At night sit out on the rocks and watch the sunset, no noise except the waves crashing against the rocks below. In addition, from the verandah you will see the fruit bats come out and drink for the "Cool Pool" and you can gaze up at the stars (no light pollution here). The Cottage itself is simply finished in rustic style but with modern amenities and brand new appliances. It can accommodate up to 4 guests comfortably in the two bedrooms but please note that the division between the bedrooms is open at roof level. Due to Coronavirus, we are taking extra care to disinfect all surfaces and have a minimum 48 hours between reservations. A few more things we thought you would like to know for your added comfort... Welcome basket - just a few things to make your stay comfortable such as tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a welcoming fresh coconut. -Cotton bed linen and under everything, the mattress and pillows are fully encased in protective covers. -Your towels are also washed, even if they were not used by the previous guest as we want everything you use to be fresh. -Your toilet, shower and sink are cleaned and sanitized. -Britta Drinking Water Filter Jug -Your ice tray is removed, emptied and washed before being returned to the freezer to make fresh ice for you. Would also recommend you purchase a bag of ice, or we can arrange for this to be delivered in advance for you. -While we cannot re-wash every, pot, pan, plate, cup, bowl and piece of silverware between each guest, we do wash what has been left out… -We take great care and pride in the cleanliness of our cottage because we want you to feel as if you were our first guests! However, please remember this is a wooden structure by the sea and not a polished Manhattan loft! Reef Cottage is self contained with a private entrance and secure parking. Check-in time is flexible, although we would request you let us know in advance so that we can arrange to meet you with the keys. Also it is recommended that you arrive in daylight hours on the first day so that you can familiarize yourselves with the area. Either ourselves or Morris, our caretaker who lives in the neighbouring cottage, will meet and welcome you (social distance and mask protocols observed). We will give you a quick tour of the property and answer any questions you may have to help you get acquainted with the area. We will give you your privacy, however, you are always welcome to contact us or pop next door if you have any questions or concerns. Please feel free to call us. Snorkel out along a 400m reef - we provide masks and snorkels for your use. Diving can be arranged (if qualified) Visit Half Moon Beach($5 Entrance Fee) and Calico Jack beach bar and restaurant only 10 minute drive away; Morris can drop you off and collect for a small fee Take a fishing boat trip up the coast with dolphin spotting en route or go fishing in Cousins Cove. Byrons Bar - eat, drink and play dominoes H&S food stores within walking distance for basic groceries or pop into Green Island for a larger selection Negril is 15 minutes drive - 7 miles of beautiful beach, Watersports and all resort amenities. Our favorite restaurant is Rock House, West End, Negril Take a day trip to Mayfield Waterfalls - drive through real Jamaica. Walk up the various pools. For adventure lovers visit Chukka Caribbean Adventures We recommend that you either hire a car or Morris would be happy to transport you to/from the airport. Morris will also happily be able to drive you to collect groceries or take you further afield for day trips (for a small charge). Although WiFi is provided for guests to use, we are in a semi remote location so the WiFi service may temporarily fluctuate from time to time, which unfortunately is out of our control.
