Minutes from popular beaches and resorts, this vintage log cabin is stylish and cozy. Our cabin has everything you'll need for a relaxing getaway, including a hot tub and spacious deck. Walk to the beach or mosey up the road to hike and ski. Families are especially welcome at this all-seasons retreat. No parties, late hours, or smoking. Local co-host checks noise & occupancy. Quiet hours strictly enforced. County assesses $1000+ fines for violations. ***See Covid-19 notice below*** ***IMPORTANT: For your safety and that of our community, visitors must obey local and State rules related to Covid-19 and visit only if they are not experiencing symptoms of illness and can follow social distancing/mask/hand-washing and other rules. Certain amenities may not be available based on recommended guidelines. Guests are advised to check the state and local websites related to Covid-19 and travel restrictions. Guests assume all risks of visiting during this time.*** Make memories in this classic cabin with Old Tahoe charm and modern style and amenities. Located on the second hole of the historic Old Brockway Golf Course, you're in the heart of North Lake Tahoe. A short drive, bike ride, or walk takes you to the beach for sunning, swimming, beach volleyball, and a barbecue. Appealing restaurants, shops, and even casinos, are a walk or Uber away. For skiing, boarding and mountain biking, hop on the bus for a quick ride to Northstar, less than 10 minutes door-to-door. Squaw, Mount Rose, Diamond Peak, and Homewood are also nearby. While everyone else is wrangling crowds to get home, you'll be back at your cabin, catching the sunset from the deck, slipping into the hot tub under the stars, or sipping a drink in front of the fire. You’ll love the cabin's vintage design, crafted to take you back to a simpler time. Downstairs, the living/dining area has a gas fireplace, custom leather sleeper sectional with a full bed, and a large dining table in front of the fireplace for gathering. A well-equipped kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances has everything you need to make a delicious meal, bake, or mix up a batch of après-ski drinks to enjoy in front of the fire. The downstairs bedroom is a cozy retreat, with a king bed, french doors to the deck, and a bathroom with shower/tub combo. Upstairs, you'll find another bathroom with shower, along with two charming guest rooms--a calming refuge with a queen bed/twin trundle and cozy electric fireplace, and a bunk room for the kids and kids-at-heart with 2 sets of twin-over-full bunks, a full sofa bed, and 6 old-school lockers for organizing gear. We’ve recently added an on-demand tankless water heater, forced air heat, and smart thermostats for year-around comfort. This is the kind of place that brings you together for board games, story-telling, and conversation. But that doesn't mean you have to give up movie night. There are large SmartTVs in the living room and bunk room, with Blu-Ray/DVD players (no cable) and surround-sound Bluetooth audio for watching movies or syncing up your Tahoe playlist. Downstairs, there’s even a turntable for spinning records. Outside the cabin, enjoy a yard with space for lounging and playing games in the summer, or building snowmen and snow forts in the winter. Relax on the outdoor sofa or in the hot tub overlooking a lawn area that merges into a historic Jeffrey-pine studded golf course, enjoyed by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. This is the first 9-hole golf course to become an Audubon cooperative sanctuary, so you'll have front-row seats to a wildlife corridor visited by song birds, geese, and even the occasional black bear. During the warmer months, a picnic table beckons you outside for leisurely meals under the sky. The sign above the door welcomes you to "Happy Cabin." The name fits. This is our family's "happy place." We hope you will love it as much as we do. Please read the "IMPORTANT" notes below and familiarize yourself with the house and county rules. By booking our cabin, you certify that you agree with the rules and will follow them. We respect our neighbors and the county's efforts to balance short-rentals with the local quality of life that makes Tahoe such a special place. Loud, rowdy guests or groups that at any point exceed the occupancy limit, violate quiet hours, or smoke on the property will be removed and fined. ***IMPORTANT NOTE RE: ENFORCED ORDINANCES: We support and comply with the transient occupancy tax (TOT 11985). Placer County strictly enforces the following rules: 1) Quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.; 2) NO open fires or outdoor disposal of cigarettes; 3) Occupancy limit (8); 4) No dogs off-leash in public except in designated areas; and 4) all trash INSIDE closed bear boxes, separated from recycling. The golf course is private property. Do not walk into the golf course or allow your pets or children to do so. Neighbors have access to a 24-hour hotline to complain. An officer or our local co-host will respond. Fines and fees related to verified complaints will be passed on to you through AirBNB or Placer County.*** ***IMPORTANT NOTE RE: PETS: Most pets are welcome. For our neighbors’ safety, dangerous breeds and animals with a bite history are not allowed. You are responsible for your pet, including keeping pets off the furniture and cleaning up after your pet, inside and out. Our insurance does not cover pet damage. *** ***NOTE RE: OUTDOOR FURNITURE: The outdoor furniture is only available about mid-May through mid-October, as we "winterize" the house in mid-October to prepare for snow. We try to get the warm weather furniture out as soon as the big storms have swept through, which varies a bit from year-to-year.*** *** TRAVEL INSURANCE*** Please purchase travel insurance for unexpected natural disasters, like fire or earthquakes, weather events, medical emergencies and such. You'll have access to the entire property, except for a supply closet. We provide a small padlocked shed for your boards, skis, and toys. The shed is on the back deck, so in snowy weather you might have to shovel a bit to get to it. Our driveway is large enough to park your boat. This is our second home, so we are usually not there in person to greet you. We have a local co-host who checks out noise complaints, drives by to check occupancy, and responds to emergencies. We are happy to answer your questions and share local tips via text and email before and during your stay. The cabin is on the border of Tahoe Vista and King's Beach, a short bike ride or 1/2 mile walk from a stunning public beach, in a quiet lakeside community on Tahoe's North Shore. Boat launches, kayak and paddle-board rentals, hiking, and ski shuttles are all close-by. Families will love the North Tahoe Regional Park, with its tree-top adventure course, disc golf, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and playgrounds. You'll find an array of appealing restaurants and convenient shopping at Safeway within a longer walk or short drive. We have a flat, level driveway for parking up to 4 cars, or even a boat during the warm months. The cabin is a few blocks away from a bus stop that will take you anywhere you need to go, including Northstar California Resort for boarding and skiing. There is so much to do in our neighborhood that you may choose to just park your car and explore by bike or on foot. TAX. We now collect Placer County's required 10 percent transient occupancy tax ("TOT") through AirBNB when you book, so that you don't have to pay anything extra later. Our TOT number is 11985. STR PERMIT: Our STR Permit Number is 117605. NOISE. This is not a party house, and you should not book our cabin if you are planning on having a loud gathering, keeping late hours, or exceeding the occupancy level of 8 at any time. County quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. are strictly enforced. We have attentive, local neighbors who keep a close eye on things and will call a 24-hour hotline to report you if you violate the rules. Fines and fees associated with verified complaints will be passed on to you. You will be asked to leave immediately if you violate the rules. You will not be refunded for days remaining of your stay. WE CHARGE $250 SERVICE FEE FOR VERIFIED NOISE COMPLAINTS REQUIRING OWNER/HOST RESPONSE plus $250 for each person found on the property beyond the 8 authorized guests. Placer County charges you up to to an additional $1000 per an incident. You will also be charged for excessive clean-up at the rate of $100 an hour for labor and $30/bag for trash. We charge $350 minimum for smoking in the house. Non-overnight visitors require prior permission. We monitor noise remotely using a decibel reader and use outdoor security cameras at entrances. We may drive by the property to ensure compliance. OCCUPANCY. We’ve put a lot of thought into creating a retreat that works well for families with children (like ours), couples looking for an escape, and groups of friends. We find the space ideal for 2 families—4 adults with up to 4 children, or 3 couples (with a few children if the adults don’t mind sharing rooms or one couple doesn't mind sleeping in the living room on the sofa bed). KIDS. If you have small children, you will need to bring everything you need to keep them safe around a steep staircase, hot tub, fireplace, and un-fenced yard. PETS. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, though keep in mind that we do not have fencing, the golf course is private property, and the furniture and linens are not pet-friendly. SNOW. It snows here! Between November and April, guests are responsible for being prepared for winter storms with 4WD, snow tires, chains and a back-up plan for road closures. Power outages are possible. We provide frequent plowing and shoveling before you arrive, but when it’s snowing, you may have to shovel a path in and out, or to get your car out. We do not offer weather refunds. ACCESS. We offer digital keypad access through August Smartlock. After you book, you will get an email with your digital access code. Your code activates at check-in time (4 p.m.) and de-activates at check-out time (10 a.m.), so if you need to arrive earlier or leave later, please make prior arrangements.
