A renovated apartment in the center of Downtown Juneau. Built in 1916 during Juneau's mining heyday, the historic Hellenthal building was been completely renovated in 2017-2018. This 743 square foot studio features all new appliances, including a washer, dryer, and built-in microwave. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. There are granite countertops in the kitchen, and the large south-facing windows have a view of the Channel and the mountains of Douglas Island. Although it is located above retail spaces, this apartment can be accessed from North Franklin Street without having to climb stairs, and there is a step- or roll-in shower. There is a queen-sized bed, and a full-size pull-out sofa. A keypad gets you into the common hallways of the building. A second keypad with an exclusive code gets you into your apartment. Our building is directly in the middle of Juneau's downtown historic district, and is within easy walking all of the best places to eat and drink, all the museums, the Capitol Building, cruise ship docks, the Goldbelt Tram, and pickup/dropoff points for tours. Although we do not live in the building, we are usually in the area and available to assist with anything you need to make your stay more comfortable. The Hellenthal Building is located within blocks from Juneau's best restaurants, bars, coffee shops, two microbreweries, distillery, dispensaries, museums, and movie theaters, as well as hiking trails, the waterfront, and the tram. Walking is the best way to get around downtown. The downtown bus transit center is one block away. Like most downtown buildings, we do not have our own parking area. There is a convenient city-owned lot on the corner of 2nd and North Franklin, on the uphill side of the Baranof Hotel. This lot is 75 cents per hour during business hours, and free all other times. Street parking is free, but limited to two hours during business hours. Overnight parking is allowed on weekends, but on weeknights it is limited to certain days on each street, to allow for street cleaning. Just read the fine print on the parking signs.
