The average annual temperature on Roatan is 85 degrees F/29 degrees C so you can wear your shorts day and night. Enjoy the best of both worlds with West Bay's upscale beach life including endless white sand, azure waters, beachfront restaurants and bars, gift shops, and water sport activities of all kinds or West End's unique Caribbean style where you can buy fruits and vegetables off the back of a truck, rent mopeds, arrange for your scuba adventure at the many dive shops, shop in their plentiful tourist markets, or enjoy a cool Salva Vida, the local Honduran beer. It’s only a 3-minute water taxi ride to either destination from the private dock or a 15-minute walk on the beach. No need to drive. AMENITIES: The Pink Orchid is equipped with a state of the art 24/7 monitored Bulldog security system, meaning your valuables and belongings will be safe for the entirety of your stay. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized french-door refrigerator, five burner gas stove, oven, microwave, Instapot electric pressure cooker, Cuisinart food processor, ice-cream maker, blender, coffee maker, toaster, waffle maker and electric mixer (with new granite countertops just installed!) for all your cooking needs. The full service for twelve of Dansk Caribe dishes, the fully stocked pantry, and the very large selection of cooking and serving dishes make this the perfect place for lovers of the culinary arts. If the preference is to have someone do the cooking during your stay on the island, a local cook can come and prepare some or all of the meals to your liking. There are ceiling fans in every room, air conditioners throughout (including bedrooms and living area), a back-up solar system for energy efficiency, large flat-screen TV and DVD in living room (with a library of over 100 DVD movies to choose from), wireless Internet, and a stainless steel outdoor barbecue grill. The wraparound deck includes an outdoor dining area as well as a hammock to enjoy the expansive views. A recent addition to the house includes a private sun deck (including four wooden lounges), as well as extensive private gardens and dining pergola with a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea. Also provided is some snorkeling gear and fins, comfortable pads for the outdoor dining and lounge areas, beach lounges located on the beach in front of the gardens, as well as plenty of beach towels. There are two 2-person kayaks with paddles and seat backs for your use. Bottled water is provided for your drinking needs and the ultraviolet water purification system makes tap water safe for drinking and cooking. This is a non-smoking home. ACCESSIBILITY: Transportation from the airport (including an optional stop at the local grocery store to pick up essentials) is provided free of charge. We encourage our renters to make arrangements with the driver for the return trip to the airport. Roatan is easier to get to than many Caribbean destinations. The Roatan airport has non-stop flights from Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and Miami on United, Delta, American and Avianca. There are also frequent flights from San Pedro Sula on mainland Honduras, and direct charters from Toronto, Montreal, Milan (on Alitalia Euroair) and from Madrid. PLEASE NOTE - Honduras requires that ALL vacation rental guests pay a 19% government issued occupancy tax, which is included in the price listed above. This is a requirement for ALL vacation rentals on the island. It is the owner's goal to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. They hope you will come and enjoy your stay at Orchid Beach on this diverse and beautiful island! Guests have access to the entire house barring two owner's closets and two owner's cabinets. Our property manager will be available 24/7 for any issues that may arise. There is also an on-site maintenance man available should any small maintenance issues pop up. Orchid Beach Village is a small community located between West Bay and West End - it is walkable distance to both or a short water taxi ride from our dock. In the village you will find extremely friendly residents, always willing to lend a hand if you need local advice or recommendations. Transportation from the airport is provided free of charge through our property manager. Most of our renters also like to stop at the grocery store on the way to pick up essentials if you so wish! We encourage our renters to make arrangements with the driver for the return trip to the airport at a time most convenient for you.
