Whether you're in town for business or pleasure, Mukono is beautiful and has magnificent places to visit! Book your stay now and discover the magic of Uganda! Mukono is a district located in central Uganda, and there are several places to visit in and around the area. Here are a few suggestions: Sezibwa Falls: Sezibwa Falls is a natural waterfall located in the district, about 32 kilometers east of Kampala. The falls are known for their scenic beauty and cultural significance, as they are believed to be the birthplace of two rivers. Namugongo Martyrs Shrine: The Namugongo Martyrs Shrine is a historical site located in the district that commemorates the lives of 22 Catholic and Anglican martyrs who were executed for their faith in 1886. The shrine is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians from all over the world. Lake Victoria: Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa and is located just a short distance from Mukono. The lake is home to a wide variety of aquatic life and is a popular destination for fishing and boating. Mabira Forest: Mabira Forest is a tropical rainforest located in the district, about 54 kilometers east of Kampala. The forest is home to a diverse range of plant and animal species, including monkeys, birds, and butterflies. It is a great place to go for a nature walk or hike. Jinja: Jinja is a town located about 80 kilometers east of Mukono and is known as the source of the Nile River. The town is home to several historical and cultural sites, including the Bujagali Falls, the Owen Falls Dam, and the Jinja Sailing Club. Ssezibwa Falls Eco-tourism Site: This is a site in Mukono district where you can see the Sezibwa falls, go bird watching, go on nature walks, and visit cultural sites. Nkokonjeru Tombs: Nkokonjeru is a town in Mukono district and is home to the tombs of the Kabaka's from the 1800s. The tombs have a rich cultural history, and visitors can learn about the traditions of the Buganda Kingdom. These are just a few of the many places to visit in Mukono district. There are also many restaurants, markets, and shops where you can experience the local culture and cuisine. There are several ways to get around in Mukono district in Uganda and we can make some recommendations that suit you. These include: Boda Boda: Boda Bodas are motorcycle taxis that are commonly used for short-distance travel in Uganda. They are affordable and convenient, but it is important to wear a helmet and negotiate the fare before getting on. Matatu: Matatus are minibus taxis used for public transportation in Uganda. They are a popular way to travel between towns and cities and are usually cheaper than private taxis. You can catch a matatu at a designated stage or stop along the road. Private taxis: Private taxis are a more comfortable and convenient way to travel around Mukono. You can hire a taxi from a taxi rank or book one through a taxi app like SafeBoda, Uber, or Bolt. Car rental: You can rent a car from car rental companies in Kampala or Entebbe and drive yourself around Mukono district. However, it is important to have a valid driver's license and be familiar with Ugandan driving laws and customs. Walking: If you are staying in a central location in Mukono, walking may be a convenient and healthy way to get around. However, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and avoid walking alone at night. Overall, it is recommended to use a trusted transportation method, and always negotiate the fare before getting on a boda boda or private taxi. Hey, we just wanted to give you a heads-up about the roads and traffic in Central Uganda overall. They can be a bit challenging, with lots of traffic, potholes and rough patches. But don't worry - we can definitely help you out. If you'd like, we can provide you with some tips on how to navigate the roads safely, or even offer to drive you to the destination ourselves with our reliable transporters. Just let us know how we can assist! Also, we'd have loved to offer you uncapped WiFi, however, we can only provide 1GB of data per day per unit. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask that you use the internet mindfully to ensure that it is available to everyone. Thank you for your understanding. If you need more data, just let us know and we'll assist. We use Airtel as is the most stable and fastest data provider in the area at the moment (we keep checking).
