Casa Marco, Puerto Escondido. Oax.
Casa Marco is a beautiful house made of a blend of concrete, thatching and tropical wood on Zicatela beach, with a full range of services for a maximum of 4 guests; it comprises two bedrooms, two outdoor terraces with hammocks, a garden and a gorgeou The house is designed to accommodate a maximum of four guests, as it only has two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed; however, all the spaces in the house are spacious and comfortably arranged to ensure a very pleasant stay. Casa Marco is available for rent in its entirety, with the exception of the boiler room for reasons of safety. Adelina, who is on hand to receive you at Casa Marco, is available from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. every day. She takes care of the garden and makes sure that all the facilities are in perfect working order; if you wish, she can also cook for you, since she is a true connoisseur of traditional Oaxacan seafood cuisine. If you would like her to prepare a meal for you, just provide the wherewithal for her to make the day’s purchases: she buys fresh seafood directly from the fishermen on the beach and produce from local farmers. We would like to suggest that you tip her for her services at the end of your stay. The area of La Punta, where Casa Marco is nestled, is a small enclave that connects with the half dozen restaurants on Zicatela beach, which is why you can sometimes hear community celebrations or wedding music that invariable end with fireworks. This is common throughout Mexico and it’s important to point it out, but other than that the neighborhood of La Punta is, without much exaggeration, the very picture of peace and tranquility that characterizes all fishing villages, with the extra seasoning provided by an international community devoted to surfing ... and to enjoying the corner of paradise that is Puerto Escondido. In terms of transport, taxis --either collective or for private use – are readily available, along with buses that run from La Punta right to the village market. If you’d rather rent a car or a bike, you can also do so from Casa Marco, where you’ll also find a directory of the services and shops in Puerto Escondido. The neighborhood of La Punta is made all the more enjoyable by the variety of businesses on the same street, all within walking distance: cafes, seaside restaurants, European delicatessens and specialties such as Thai food. The natural beauty of the beach is also extraordinary: just some 150 yards (no more than 5 minutes on foot) from Casa Marco is La Punta (The Point), a rocky outcrop; it’s a beautiful area reached through a rock arch at low tide or by climbing a slope at high tide, with an age-old rock formation covering some 5,000 mts. that leads to a pristine beach that is virtually deserted --since it is an ecological preserve— and stretches for almost 6 kilometers.
