The Damiana apartment in the El Tamarindo at Casa Calamondin family complex is a two-room self-contained apartment with one bedroom with a/c, sitting room with extra bed and fans (no a/c), kitchenette, large closets, and private bathroom located only two blocks from La Ropa beach in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. The apartment is a bright and comfortable two-room suite less than 5 minutes walk from Playa la Ropa on Zihuatanejo Bay, close to restaurants and water sports. Damiana's kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, four-burner gas stove top, sink, and basic cooking utensils and dish-ware suitable for light food prep. The bedroom is equipped with queen bed, ample closet, desk/table, ceiling fan, and air conditioning. The second room is living space that holds a daybed/double bed, closet and cabinet, table with four chairs, and ceiling fan. The room opens onto a small balcony. It is not air conditioned, but it has large screened windows that can be opened for a refreshing cross-breeze. The unit is on an intermediate level of the property and one level below a partially thatched shared rooftop terrace from whence spectacular sunsets can be enjoyed. There are exterior walkways and stairways to negotiate in order to reach Damiana from street level. Weekly change of linens and towels is included. Four separate buildings house independent apartments and rooms in the El Tamarindo at Casa Calamondin family complex that winds up a slope from street level. A pathway and a series of exterior stairways meander through the garden areas to access rooms and apartments. Cozy comfort and low-key relaxation characterize the home. Every room and apartment has independent access from the exterior. For outdoor lounging, guests have shared access to a rooftop palapa-thatched terrace that overlooks the tropical greenery of La Ropa and affords lovely sunrise and sunset views. Depending on family occupancy and other rental conditions, guests may be granted access to the front terrace and dipping pool of the main house. Family is sometimes in residence in the main house, and other guests and family may share the common terraces and dipping pool, so at times we do all hang out together. Generally, though, peaceful relaxation and few human distractions reign within the property. Please respect the privacy of others on the property and keep noise to a minimum. Felisa, the house manager, checks in daily and is available should the need arise. Both Felisa and Carol are available by phone (calls, texts, or Whatapp) and email. La Ropa Beach is the best and most beautiful beach on Zihuatanejo Bay, which is in itself one of the astounding jewels of the Mexican Pacific coastline. It is a short, two-block, flat or semi-flat walk to the beach. The property is easily accessible to downtown Zihuatanejo via taxi or microbus. Just steps from the door are several restaurants that open during the winter season, with a variety of offerings from home-style Italian to savory fish tacos and chic boutique sandwiches, and along the beach are countless seafood restaurants and plenty of opportunities to imbibe a cold beer or an icy margarita. Taxis and micro-buses pass right by the door of the house. The tamarind tree out front provides a shady bus stop. Buses run from approximately 7 am to 7 pm. If you're into walking, it's fun to walk into town in the early morning or late afternoon, but it can be a bit arduous during the heat of midday (for mad dogs and Englishmen only!). The walk usually takes about 30 minutes. There is free WiFi on the terraces as well as within the unit. Once-per-week linen and towel changes are included. Your unit will be delivered thoroughly cleaned, and we include an initial supply of drinking water, soap, and toilet tissue for your arrival. Extra drinking water is available for purchase. We do not have television or public land-line phone service at El Tamarindo. We do not have public laundry facilities on the property. There are reliable local laundry services available that provide will pick-up and deliver. Ask us. There's ample street parking in front of the house.
