The name of our home is El Huajal - named after the beautiful tress surrounding the property. Located six miles outside the center of Oaxaca in San Pablo Etla, a small pueblo that sits at the base of the Sierra Norte mountains. The house is fifteen minutes from the ruins of Monte Alban, golf and swimming and has easy access to all of the area's artisan communities and markets. There are wonderful hikes right from our door through the community into the mountains. The bird watching is amazing!!! El Huajal is a very sunny, comfortable, fully equipped 3 bedroom, two bath home with two outside porches (one covered), lime, oranges, mandarins and pomegranate trees, cactus gardens, flowers, birds and butterflies galore. Over the years that we have owned this house we have collected artwork from the state of Oaxaca and beyond. There are small shops within an easy walk for basic supplies (tortillas, eggs, milk, fruit, etc.). A car will make your time here really easy but taxis and public transportation are available. Sebastian our house manager, is fluent in English and Spanish and is available to answer your questions and assist you with any needs you might have. Weekly cleaning is included with the rental with more days easily arranged (for an additional fee). The house is fully accessible with the exception of one small step from the dinning room into the living room. The two walk-in showers are large enough to fit a chair. Our home is the ideal destination for those wishing to take advantage of rich culture that Oaxaca City has to offer while returning home to the quiet and clean air of San Pablo Etla, a traditional Zapotec village. The property is yours to enjoy. Sebastian, our house manager, is speaks both English and Spanish and and lives near-by. The owners are always reachable by phone. San Pablo Etla has built a wonderful eco reserve in the mountains above the town that is always worth a visit. The vistas are outstanding. There is a local eating market that is a favorite for Sunday brunch. Parking on the premises is available. Lupe is a local taxi driver who is available to take you in and out of the city and to do touring. He is also available to pick you up at the airport. There are three-wheeled moto-taxis in our neighborhood that can get you to local buses and collective taxis to get you into Oaxaca City. Oaxaca City is known for its outstanding cuisine. But you do not have to drive into town if you want a meal out. One of our favorite places is a near-by Asian fusion restaurant opened Thursdays - Sundays. There's also take-out roasted chicken (wood burning ovens) on the road to our house.
