CasaDoraBungalows. Starlink & fiber optic internet. Ideal for remote workers, long stays. 1-min to beach. Spacious 60m2 upstairs loft apt, fully-equipped kitchen, living area, bath & bedroom w/ queen bed. Walk everywhere. 6-min walk to Hridaya. Completely screened. Purified drinking water, safe, smoke-free. Organic market in Mazunte. Prepare organic produce in full kitchen. Stroll on the beach. Ecological, we recycle all water, compost. No pets, no AC. **Monthly rentals** at CasaDoraBungalows.c Generally, people are choosing San Agustinillo because it is authentic, because it is a cool place to visit, because the beaches are amazing, the food is outstanding and homemade and fresh, because the opportunities to practice yoga are numerous, and because there are no high-rise buildings, there are no discotecas, there is not a lot of light pollution so you can enjoy the stars on the beach. If you have heard it's cool, please investigate why it is cool. And make sure that “why” corresponds to the kind of experience you are searching for. It is rustic. This is not a developed beach destination, there is not a lot of concrete, there are a lot of inconveniences. These inconveniences are why people live and stay and visit this place. That is its power. Rusticity, not luxury. Our spaces are for guests who love outdoor living and nature. They are screened in and do not have glass windows or AC. The loft is in a closed property toward the end of a pedestrian (and scooter) path. Being off the main street, you will not hear cars from the street. You will hear the waves at night. Loud and strong and beautiful. The beach is a minute away. (100 meters) You will hear neighbors. There are 2 other rentals on the property. For 6 guests total. Also perfect for groups of friends who want to be close. The loft is completely closed in by mosquito screens. If you keep the door closed, you will have a comfortable place to relax, cook and sleep. Smoke-free property. We live down in an authentic Mexican village neighborhood with families and children. We live down a footpath with no cars. We are toward the end of the alley so cars from the main street cannot be heard. But you will hear neighbors as everyone lives outside. You will hear neighbors' music, yoga class, children playing and the ocean. Movements in the neighborhood can start as early as 7. If you are looking to sleep in later than 8, this is not the space for you. There is a shared terrace. We are happy to provide any information you need to make your stay a happy one. We live next door and appreciate guests who also appreciate low volume music and low noise levels. “The sea-shore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world.” ---Thoreau This is why you come to San Agustinillo. San Agustinillo and the southern Pacific Mexican Coast are in the Tropics. What are the Tropics? The tropical zone is the area found south of the Tropic of Cancer (in our Northern Hemisphere at 23°26′12.2″ (or 23.43672°) and north of the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere at 23°26′12.2″ (or 23.43672°). Generally, the tropics are the area surrounding the Equator. Why do you need to know this? San Agustinillo and this coast then have a tropical climate. This means that most of the rain falls within one period of the year. For us, that period is generally between June and October. It is not necessarily a rainy season, it is a green season. It does rain. Usually it does not rain for days straight or even one whole day. Usually, the sun always comes out even on days it rains. During this green season, the vegetation is luxurious and amazingly beautiful, lush and rich. From November through May, there is usually no rain. Just clear blue skies. This coast and San Agustinillo have a deciduous dry forest also called a tropical dry forest. Trees lose their leaves during winter (December through June). They lose their leaves here to preserve the little moisture they have unlike trees in northern climates that lose their leaves to preserve themselves from the cold. This is a unique forest for many reasons. It is a rare and fragile ecosystem. There are more varieties of animal life in this tropical dry forest than in the tropical rainforest. Yes, read that again. What does that mean when you visit this coast and San Agustinillo? If this forest is home to more varieties of animal life than the tropical rainforest, please expect to encounter these life forms during your stay. You will have the distinct pleasure of seeing an incredible array of tropical birds including a flock of parrots that fly over the house every morning. You may see lizards and iguanas, geckos, wild cats, coatis, possums and raccoons in your adventures inland. You will see shore birds and lagoon wildlife including crocodiles and bioluminescence if you choose to visit a lagoon. If you take a marine tour, you may be lucky to see dolphins, whales, sea turtles, manta rays and sail fish. This also means that bugs are part of the ecosystem. We live with them. You may see bugs in your lodging. Generally, if you put food away and keep your cooking area clean, you will not have a problem. However, you may see a cockroach (these are not the sewer kind, just the woods kind). You may see ants. You may see a scorpion. (None of the bugs here are dangerous in spite of their looks. Like all bugs or bees, everyone reacts differently.) We do all we can to fumigate properly and keep your area as bug-free as is healthily possible. However, we will not make your space so bug free with chemicals that it compromises your health. If you have a problem with insects, maybe you should consider a different destination. Generally, people are choosing San Agustinillo because it is authentic, because it is a cool place to visit, because the beaches are amazing, the food is outstanding and homemade and fresh, because the opportunities to practice yoga are numerous, and because there are no high-rise buildings, there are no discotecas, there is not a lot of light pollution so you can enjoy the stars on the beach. If you have heard it's cool, please investigate why it is cool. And make sure that “why” corresponds to the kind of experience you are searching for. This is not a developed beach destination, there is not a lot of concrete, there are a lot of inconveniences. These inconveniences are why people live and stay and visit this place. That is its power. An array of interesting restaurants can be found between San Agustinillo, Mazunte and Zipolite. Recommendations can be found in the Guide on site. It is easy to get around here. You can catch a collectivo truck or taxi or private taxi at the end of our alley. These trucks and taxis travel to the neighboring villages of Mazunte, La Ventanilla, Zipolite, Puerto Angel and Pochutla. You can also catch a van to Oaxaca. Parking is allowed along the main street. From the main street, it is about a 30 meter walk to the house. The alley leading to the house is a paved footpath. It is important to have a flashlight when you go out at night or come back after dark. Wifi is provided in the rental fee. It is Starlink & fiber optic. There may be unpredictable, infrequent outages, just like everywhere in the world. This is the best internet system and combination possible on the coast. This is as good as it gets in terms of internet. As with many places on the tropical coast, we do not have hot water. Water for showers is usually ambient and most find they do not need hot water. The popularity of the area continues to draw people to live here. For this reason, there is construction in all of San Agustinillo. Anywhere you rent, you will hear hammers and some construction noise. It is completely unpredictable. Be prepared to enjoy the place and accept its inconveniences as a popular tourism destination and a growing community.
