If you're looking for spacious accommodations in a peaceful tropical setting, this lovely home is right on the ocean on a 2-acre property surrounded by fruit trees & lush mountains. You’ll enjoy your own private beach area with turquoise waters & beautiful snorkeling right in front. Harvest fruits & foods from the yard, explore the lagoon with the kayaks, bathe in the dreamy hot outside shower, sunbathe by day or stargaze by night from the lounge chairs. It's truly a paradise! The 2BR, 2BA home sits up on a small plateau for beautiful views of the lagoon. It was built with imported hardwoods and recently refurbished. The large deck area at the front of the house is where you’ll end up spending a lot of time, with it’s magnificent views of the lagoon, sweet breezes, and a beautiful wooden dining table to enjoy meals at home. There is space on the deck for yoga or exercising, and a couch & futon for napping. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and bay window with a small desk for working remotely if needed. There is a large walk-in closet and the master bath has a spacious two-person bathtub and full length mirror. A big living room and kitchen area separate the two bedrooms, making them feel private, so it’s ideal for 2 couples or a family. The house can accommodate four adults plus several children, and we have a travel crib for babies if needed. The second bedroom is lovely, with it’s own deck access, plus a bathroom with shower and the washing machine. But who wants to shower inside when there is a dreamy outside shower with hot water by the ocean with plenty of privacy and passion fruits ready to be picked!? The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped for cooking. Since we are eco-conscious and run a local non profit for the environment and animals, we provide you with eco-friendly soaps, receptacles for recycling and composting, and there is a quality water filter in the kitchen so that you don't have to purchase bottled water. The property faces west, so you can enjoy the magnificent Tahitian sunsets each evening. Maybe even from the hammock that hangs above the water from the mango trees leaning over the lagoon in north corner of the property. If you’re here during whale season between July and October, you can even see/hear whales right in front of the house. We also have a one person & 2-person kayak, and masks & snorkels & fins available to use. For children we have books, crayons and coloring books, puzzles, card games, and more. There’s a swing over the water for the kids under the Hotu tree in front of the house. And a soccer ball and some yard games for families in the old blue freezer in the garage. You are welcome to explore the 2 acres around the house as you please. Right outside your door you can pick guavas, papayas, passion fruit, avocados, mango, grapefruits, limes, breadfruit, pineapples, and more! Nov-May is the high season for fruit, but there’s always something to eat right from the garden. The beach and orchard areas are private and only accessed from our property. My wife and I live in a smaller house on the property, so you will see us in the yard from time to time or when we are getting in the car or the boat… but we will give you plenty of privacy! Neighbors are not very close. House is down off the road so you don't hear road noise. You might hear a dog barking from time to time… :) Having a rental car is recommended. We’re about a 6 minute drive to the main town of Fare where you can find the big supermarket and restaurants. And we’re just 1 minute drive from the little Fitii store that sells fresh bread and pastries. Our driveway is about 100 meters long and quite steep, so it requires 4-wheel drive or a strong 2wd car. Renting this kind of vehicle will give you complete freedom to go up and down our driveway with your own car. If you rent a small 2wd car, you can park it at the top of our road and walk up & down. We will shuttle you up and down with your baggage for arrival and departure. There is no fence between the houses so you will see the dogs roaming around in the yard. They are all friendly and good with kids. We’ll introduce them to you on arrival. --Having rental car is recommended, but our driveway is steep, so if you don’t want to walk up and down our road you will want to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle. If not you will need to park at the top of the driveway and we will shuttle you up or down with our 4x4 for your arrival and departure with your baggage. I will send you contact information for rental car options as soon as you book. --We ask that you use MINERAL SUNSCREENS while staying with us in order to respect the live corals in front of the house. Mineral sunscreens are available at the supermarket in town, or we also have some for sale with us at home.
