Peaceful Private Rainforest Getaway
This little cabin is so cozy, it's like your home away from home. You will find most everything you will need while staying here. It's tucked away in the trees with a National Park right in the back yard! You'll wish you could stay longer! Please be sure to read the entire description of the listing so there are no surprises. Come experience this cute comfortable totally off the grid cabin nestled in the woods, surrounded by tall Ohia trees with lots of tropical birds to serenade you. Situated at 2000' elevation (which means it gets a bit chilly at times), on a very private, peaceful, gated 20 acre piece of land on the Southern most part of the Big Island. Located half way between Kona and Hilo with 2 grocery stores and a few restaurants nearby, 60 miles from the Hawaii Volcano National Park entrance, 15 miles from the famous Green Sands Beach and Punalu'u the black sand beach where you'll find Hawaiian Hawksbill turtles sunning on the sand. Just 5 minutes away from the cabin, the Kahuku Unit of the Volcano National Park is now open to the public. There are beautiful hiking trails, guided or on your own, a gift shop, and information center. Open Thursday - Sunday 8-4 There are a few restaurants nearby for your dining pleasure. The cabin is half way between the Kona and Hilo airports and takes about an hour and a half to get here from them. The cabin has one bedroom with a queen size bed, one full bathroom with plenty of tankless on demand hot water, a complete kitchen (no oven, just a 2 burner stove top), and is completely self sufficient- solar power, rain water catchment, propane appliances. Linens, dishes, pots and pans, and a coffee press are available for your convenience. Since the power is from the sun, no hair dryer, curling iron, or things of that nature can be used. There's a DVD player with a variety of movies for your entertainment. Most cell phones work here and wi-fi is available. Smoking permitted outside only. Please no outside guests or visitors or pets. The cabin has it's own driveway and parking area. I live on the property so I'm available should you need anything. The houses are far enough away from each other so that there's complete privacy. There are 2 grocery stores and a few restaurants nearby. The Volcano National Park Kahuku Unit is right next door and you can drive in and hike around. If you're into nature and easy hiking, it's a must do. Open Thursday - Sunday 8-4. A rent a car is essential. Please be mindful of the time difference between Hawaii and where you are when inquiring about the cabin. Hawaii is always earlier.
