The Nest offers a truly unique tropical experience. Close to adventurous tours, and town, while having a distinctive jungly feel. We are ranked as the #1 jungle lodge in Belize by the Travel Channel, and as of 1-Feb-19, we're now the #1 SI B&B on TA. The Parrot Nest Family Cabin has 1 queen and 2 single beds, fans, 110w plugs(electricity 24/7), and a private bathroom(with hot water). It has a rear veranda with a hammock and chairs. Kids stay free with parents at the Nest. The Nest is in Bullet Tree Falls, and while just over 3 miles from downtown SI, it feels like a different world since we have a 100+ foot canopy. The mighty Mopan River runs through the yard; in fact, it's on 3 sides of us since we're on a private peninsula. The collectivo taxis are $1us per person, one way, from Bullet Tree to San Ignacio, run all day, and drop you off, and pick you up, in the center of downtown. We have a kitchen, and provide dinner(entree, salad, veggies, starch, and dessert) for $12.50u, and breakfast(eggs, toast, fruit, GOOD coffee, juice) for $7.00u. We cook for all diets, and are now more famous for our food than having treehouses. We usually hang out, and eat with guests so we can exchange travel stories(and life lessons, lol). The only added expense on the cabins is the government required BTB room tax of 9%, although airb hasn't yet started collecting it automatically(soon). We absorb the sales tax, so do NOT charge the 12.5%, nor the 15% service tax. Extra persons(more than 2) are $15u, and kids stay for free. What else: Wifi, free tubes(for the free river excursions), river front access. Will gladly take you to town if we're heading in for a supply run. We have local beers($2.50u) and sodas($1.25u) in the common area fridge. We have free water and tea, and encourage everyone to stay hydrated in the tropics. We love animals, and have 2 rescue cats and 3 rescue dogs that will adopt you, haha! Wifi, free tubes for the Mopan river tubing(which can be done on your own without a guide), river front access. Will gladly take to town if heading in for a supply run. We don't run tours, but take them all regularly, know all about them, and we have a phone you can use to contact the appropriate tour operators. The Mopan river, and free tubing. DRIVING: Getting to the lodge from San Ignacio Town takes apx. 10 minutes: Once your cross over the low lying wooden bridge into town, make a right at the stadium wall of advertisements, this road will make a wide left curve around the Macal River Park and the cemetery and turn into a double lane boulevard, follow it straight up for around a half mile until you see the little sign saying Bullet Tree to the right, make that right. This is Bullet Tree Road, it will take you three miles out of town, once you reach our village, you will see a football field, straight ahead is a dirt road between Chen's Store and the village bus/taxi stop, veer right off the paved road onto this dirt road, then keep going straight, straight, keep going, straight, to the end where you will find Parrot Nest. DRIVING BY WAY OF SAN IGNACIO TOWN: It takes apx 1hr 45 min to reach the town of San Ignacio, the previous town is Santa Elena and there are signs to go across the low lying wooden bridge that crosses over to San Ignacio. Then take the firs left, at the stadium wall of ads. This will curve right around the new welcome center plaza, this brings you to the center of downtown where all the 4 roads and the walkway meet. Continue straight up the road on the right of the yellow Courts building. That is Bullet Tree road, follow this road out of town for apx 3 miles (8-10 min drive), which will bring you to Bullet Tree Falls Village, you will pass a football field on your right, straight ahead after that, veer right (straight) at the dirt road between Chens store and the little bus stop.. Follow that for a klick, and it ends at the Nest. BUS/TAXI: Your bus will park at the Cayo Welcome Center(artisans square). There are taxis at the CWC, but they are not recommended. If you use them, make sure you ask how much as they like to charge up to 10 times more than most. To find our local village taxi which is much less expensive, walk a half block up to the center of town on Burns Avenue(50 meters). You will see Belize Bank, and just across the street from the entrance of Belize Bank is a side road where the Bullet Tree Taxi stand is - they are called a 'colectivo' taxi, because it is an affordable way to get in and out of town($1us per person). They will take you to the Bullet Tree Stop, or the last klick to the Nest for an extra buck or so. We are down the road that veers right, at the Chen's store and the bus stop. We have a dragonfly security perimeter, so we have virtually no mosquitoes.
