Bacalar is a small town (population 12.000), and this is a very peaceful part of town. Close to the Lake and the main Square and the Market. Please be aware that we are in the town of Bacalar - and that Mexico is known as "The Country of Sounds". Chickens, cars & trucks with LOUD advertising messages, parties and all kinds of noises. In our neighborhood, there are bars nearby, and especially weekends tend to be loud. If you are sensitive to noise, we would recommend a stay outside of town. But this is Mexico, and there are no guarantees - one of the neighbors may have a party just when you are there, or they may have chicken. There are also restaurants nearby that play mostly soft music during the day. There is parking in front of our wall on the street. Taxi service is very common it's 25 pesos almost everywhere. There are bike rentals across the street.
