The views possibly steal the show, but anyone can appreciate the time and care taken to collect the unusual and interesting artifacts and antiques that adorn every curve and corner of this elegant villa. While it has a tasteful Caribbean flair, Villa Taino also has a sumptuous comfort thanks to the beautiful, rich, wood furniture, and bold use of color in the furnishings. The bedrooms are private and tranquil while the living areas are large, comfortable open spaces that flow into each other, making for an easy-going atmosphere whether you are friends or a family holidaying together. It's commanding position on a ridge means that Villa Taino is able to take advantage of the trade winds that wrap around the hillside.  The villa has a large driveway where a wooden gate opens onto the stunning pool and deck which just beg for a good book and a cocktail, while admiring the elegant sailing yachts or sleek power boats out on the ocean in front of you. The main living area is on the porch next to the pool and consists of sumptuously cushioned oversize furniture and various seating arrangements, beneath a high, shingled, circular roof. From the hallway, you can access the kitchen directly ahead. The kitchen is well equipped and provides a gas stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. A large opening in the wall through to the dining room makes preparing dinner and laying the table for 6, easy and enjoyable. Off the dining room is a separate porch with a teak table and a Weber gas grill for alfresco eating. Also accessed from the dining room is the library, housing the SmartTV, a collection of games and DVDs and a music system. Back in the hallway, winding stairs lead to the two bedrooms with queen beds. Both have large en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms and bathrooms have AC, screened windows, mosquito netting over the beds and ceiling fans. In a separate wooden pavilion off the pool deck is the Master Suite, a large airy screened-in room with more breathtaking views to wake up to in your king size four poster bed! Just minutes away is amazing snorkeling at Smuggler's Cove or leisurely strolls along the mile of white sand that is Long Bay.....Or for a change of scenery a sunset cruise aboard one of the daysail catamarans at nearby Soper's Hole Marina is just a short drive from the villa. Taino is found in Belmont Estate, West End where many of the rental villas have been built so we have a great selection of restaurants within 5 - 15 minutes drive of the villa. West End Jetty is just 10-15 minutes away, perfect if you're arriving by water-taxi from St Thomas (no ferries scheduled as of Oct'21), the New Horizon ferry to Jost van Dyke also leaves from West End jetty. Soper's Hole Marina is another great West End feature, home to 3 restaurants (Pussers Landing, Omar's Coffee Shop and Omar's Fusion), Harbour Market grocery store, Arawak, Breeze and Allamanda gallery gift shops, plus Island Surf and Sail for all kinds of watertoy rentals. We definitely recommend renting a 4WD SUV for your stay, there's plenty to explore. Tortola's only 12 miles long by 3 miles at its widest but it's a mountainous island and the roads can be pretty rugged with some sharp switchbacks on the hills. We have some great taxi driver's in the West End who can meet you on arrival and bring you to your villa for a really relaxing start to your vacation. And of course they're available for trips to beaches, restaurants and anywhere else. Taino is located in Belmont Estates, the heart of West End where lots of the most beautiful and unique villas have been built over many years as well as Long Bay Beach Resort. We're lucky enough to have West End ferry terminal, Soper's Hole Marina and a great selection of restaurants within 10-15 minutes drive of the property and it has a friendly community feel with a good mix of residents and tourists in the area. BEACHES: Long Bay Beach is 1 mile long of white sand - perfect for walking off the cocktails and coconut shrimp or conch fritters! The best areas for swimming are near the middle and the 2 ends of the beach. Pelican Point is a large rock protruding from the water in the middle of Long Bay, great for snorkeling out to on calm days. Apple Bay offers world class surfing when the conditions are right (October-April). Smugglers Cove is a protected spot that usually offers calm waters - perfect for the less energetic among us and great for paddle-boarding or snorkelling the coral reefs where you can spot all kinds of sea-life. Patricia offers awesome lunches, cocktails and drinks. DINING OPTIONS: Long Bay: Tropical Fusion and 1748 and Johnny's Beach Bar at Long Bay Resort, beachfront. Apple Bay: Sebastians on the Beach, Tramonti and The Sugar Mill for fine dining in a beautiful historical setting. Carrot Bay/Windy Hill: Da Coal Pot on the waterfront, Bananakeet (top of Windy Hill for the best sunset views), Stoutt's Lookout (top of Windy Hill) for great views and very informal BBQ Soper's Hole: The Admiral Pub, Pusser's Landing, Omar's Coffee House and Omar's Fusion. GROCERIES & ATTRACTIONS: C&D convenience store is just over Zion Hill (10-15 minutes drive). Soper's Hole: Harbour Market (a well-stocked branch of the island's main grocery store -Riteway), along with Arawak, Breeze, Allamanda Gallery, Driftwood Spa and Island Surf and Sail for all your water toy rentals. Sage Mountain is a 25 minute drive and offers beautiful National Park trails at a slightly cooler temperature due to the elevation and shade of the rainforest-like terrain.
