This apartment IS NOT effected by the Honolulu law restricting vacation rentals. The Birdcage is an apartment perfectly located less than 30 steps from the beach and a short walk from the center of Waikiki. This makes a great home base for exploring Honolulu and the rest of Oahu. The Birdcage is a breezy and bright studio giving you clear views of the Koolau Mountains. The Bird Cage is a breezy and bright studio giving you clear views of the Koolau Mountains. With historic Waikiki Beach just outside the hotel lobby, the Bird Cage is the perfect home base for you. The studio underwent a major renovation in November 2018. A brand new kitchen area has been created, and the bathroom has been updated. The original windows were replaced with double paned sliding glass windows that greatly minimize the urban sounds of Waikiki. The kitchen has a two burner cook top, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and all the necessary dishes, glassware and utensils to prepare simple meals . The Bird Cage is at the quiet end of Waikiki, across the street from the Honolulu Zoo and the expansive green space of Kapiolani Park. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer. Need more recent and local suggestions than your guidebook provides? Contact us, we'll be more than happy to share our favorites and suggestions with you. Please take a look at our other rental at the Waikiki Grand, the Red Ginger Suite. Located on the 9th floor and with it's own private balcony. An expansive roof deck on top of the hotel provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres. One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up paddle boardling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Birdcage. Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Birdcage has a kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away. The apartment does not have its own parking space. Guests can usually rent one directly from building management for $26.04/day. Once you make a reservation I can put you in touch with them to reserve a space in advance of your arrival. For longer stays there is a garage about a block away that has very good weekly and monthly rates. Alternatively the city has a large parking lot across the street that charges $1.50/hour, and a second lot an 8 minute walk away that is (amazingly) free. If you don't have a car, most major bus routes stop just outside the building or a block away. Visitor trolleys and tour busses have pick up/drop off spot a block over from the condo. As part of the reservation record, I will need an address for guests staying at the Bird Cage. The address can be for home or work, but is needed so that I'm in compliance with Hawaii state tax laws.
