Casa Soria/ nice view to the mountains
The house sits on the hillside skirting the town of Lamas, situated in the 'Selva Alta' or (high-rainforest) of the Amazonian region in northern Perú, about 25 minutes from the nearest town and airport which is Tarapoto. Given the slight elevation the house offers impressive panoramic views from the terrace and master bedroom. The pleasant climate and peaceful atmosphere make it easy to enjoy the place making it an ideal to rest and enjoy nature. Our recently finished house is built on the third contour of the hills skirting the centre, it's a llittle suburb called Ancoallo, known for its tranquillity and characterised by its elevated perch which offers the best views around. The house has a garage, front garden with indigenous plants, kitchen-dinning room, conservatory with two hand built mud ovens, and terrace that lends itself to meditation, yoga or simply relaxing and enjoying the view. Lamas, generally known by its three tier or level build, sits at an average of. 920 meters above sea level, part of the reason why the climate is temperate and agreeable, notably contrasting with that of Tarapoto. Perhaps one of the lesser known aspects of the town is the fact that since its was formally settled, the founders respected the local ethnic tribes that already populated the central low-veld of the region, wishing to cohabit-ate in harmony. Thus, the indigenous tribe of Quechua Lamistashan kept their identity and folklore, practicing their traditions in peace and maintaining their culture through the centuries, alongside a small western settlement by the name of Lamas. The indigenous area of the village retains its native name 'Waiku' (que significa...?) and is soon to officially be classified cultural patrimony of the nation. An interesting day to visit the town is the yearly celebration of the 'Santa Rosa Raimy' which takes place during the last week of August. Other places of interest include the Waman Wasi Center, a project dedicated to the conservation and reforestation (particularly indigenous medicinal plants); Chapawanki, a beautiful waterfall (suitable for bathing....?), only a ten minute motorbike ride away; the central market; Lamas Castle; the museum of Chanka. The most popular restaurants are El Abuelo Felipe and Rupa Rupa, among others.
