Historic home built in the early 1800s and fully renovated to modern and luxurious standards. It is the most beautiful home in the old center of Quito. Ideal for families, a group of friends, or couples looking for a romantic getaway. If you want to stay in Quito and discover it, this is it! Walking distance from all the main sites of the city. The villa is comfortable, easy to access, and full of wonders. It is a magnificent home. You wont want to leave. This is a BIG villa. There are plenty of social areas where you can relax, work, read, play, and simply enjoy your stay. The home is centered around a courtyard that has a fountain, trees, flowers, a table with a few chairs. The kitchen, dining room, living rooms, and wine cellar are at ground level. The bedrooms are located up the stairs on the first floor. where you can sleep: -Master Bedroom 1: a spacious room with a small lounge area, a large walk in closet, smart TV. It has a en-suite bathroom with a double shower and an antique bathtub. The room has a mezzanine with 2 twin beds and a second fireplace. 4 people can sleep here. -Master Bedroom 2: Queen sized bed and a mezzanine with 2 twin beds. This room fits 4 people. It has an en-suite full bathroom, plenty of closet space. -Tower room (double): located in a small tower above the library. It has a queen bed and an open full bathroom. -Double room 1: 2 twin beds. It shares a bathroom with a shower and bathtub. If you need to, the twin beds can be pulled together to make a double bed. The housekeeper can do this for you and change the linens. -Double room 2: has a Queen size bed. It shares an adjoining bathroom with shower and bathtub. A large walk in closet. There is a work area by the library. It has a fireplace, a sofa, a desk, a few chairs (a laptop computer and a printer). It's quiet and comfortable. Above the library you will find one of the bedrooms and above the bedroom you can find a small area with wonderful views of the city. The living rooms are large and there are a few of them. Professionally decorated, you will feel in a colonial home. On the second floor you can find a mezzanine that is large where you can lay down an exercise or yoga matt. The house has a wine cellar (sorry, we don't keep our wine there), but you can ask for drinks, have a meal there, or just hang out. There is a parking garage that fits 2 cars. Let us know if you need access. Housekeeper/Driver: Carmen and Javier sleep in the service quarters from Monday-Sunday. Anything you need, please ask them. A translate app may come in handy if you don't speak Spanish. They can cook and do groceries for you. They can can also help with laundry. No large events are permitted at the house without prior owner consent. The house has several areas (stairs, lofts, and balconies) which could be dangerous for small children and we encourage parents to keep an eye on them at all times. The house has surveillance cameras monitoring the common areas. There is 1 camera in the main downstairs living room, 1 in the fountain/patio areas, 1 in the upstairs/outside hallways, 1 in the kitchen, 1 in the service quarters hallway, and 1 in the garage. These do not record sound and have been used by the owners to monitor the house while away. There are no cameras in any of the bedrooms or bathrooms. We do not monitor the cameras when there are guests in the house. A little known fact.... Gonzalo Escudero, one of Ecuador's most famous poets, grew up in this house. His poetry is beautiful, you can find some of his literature in the bookshelves in the main sitting room. You can access the whole house, but we ask you give privacy to Javier and Carmen who live in separate quarters. Our resident staff (housekeeper) will permanently be there to assist you and help with anything you may need. You can always contact us for any requests. It is next to the main plazas and churches in the old colonial historic part of the city. It is lovely to walk around. Some of the streets are very steep and the sidewalks are not very buggy/stroller friendly. There are all kinds of shops and interesting places to visit. This is Ecuador at its best. We would recommend being careful with jewelry and and other items of value while walking around. There are petty thieves and pickpockets in the crowded touristy areas so please be careful. A visit to the historic center can easily be done on foot. All the main sites in the center are at most a 20 minute walk from the house.
