This charming, quiet get-away was lovingly rebuilt and landscaped by the owner. The cottage sits just feet from pristine Gouldsboro Bay with magnificent views. Easy access to the water with available kayaks and canoe. More than 15 years of 5 star rentals. The cottage is in a very private setting on Gouldsboro Point, right on the water. Awake to early morning sun and watch lobstermen hauling traps and seals swimming by, right from your bed! Enjoy the ever changing views all day long with our 12-foot tides. This is definitely a great spot to get away from it all, unplug and rejuvenate! Lounge on the deck and read, watch for eagles, osprey and terns, walk the shore looking for sea glass, hike the local trails, or use the available kayaks, canoe (at your own risk). The Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park, Petit Manaan Wildlife Refuge, Maine Public Lands, and Frenchman's Bay Conservancy lands are all close by and offer a wide variety of hiking, picnicking, and photo opportunities. Lobsters are delivered right to our dock or we may take you out to get your own from a lobster boat! Occasionally we offer rides down the Bay in our deep hull skiff or on our 25' sailboat. Whatever you choose to do from the wide array of activities listed in the large cottage binder, you'll soon realize there are definitely more things to do than you'll have time for in a week's stay! You have full access to the entire property, including the cottage and owner's yards, 600 feet of shorefront, and owner's dock. The owner's home is located on the adjoining lot but is not visible from the cottage and we respect our guests' privacy. We are almost always available to our guests for answering questions, providing assistance and offering recommendations about local sites, activities, and establishments. We sometimes invite interested guests to join us for a ride on the Bay in our motorboat or 25' sailboat. The cottage is in a very private setting, off a dead end road and right next to the water. In the summer, lobster boats in the Bay make more noise than the few cars on the road! Both the road and shoreline are great for walking. Many of our guests have enjoyed being out on the water while using the kayaks and canoe or on a ride with us in our motorboat or sailboat. The Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park is only 20 minutes away and is much less crowded than the main portion of the park on Mount Desert Island, which is an hour's drive away. Petite Manaan Wildlife Refuge, which offers wonderful hiking trails, a beach, bold oceanfront and vistas is also 20 minutes away in a neighboring community. Numerous trails on Maine Public Lands or conservancy lands are located within easy driving distance of the cottage. Many are highlighted in the large guest binder in the cottage. If you decide not to get your own lobsters off our dock and cook them yourself for dinner (we help with instructions) and want to eat out, we have a modest number but nice variety of dining possibilities in the area, which are also outlined in the guest binder. Guests either drive to the cottage in their own vehicle or rent one at the airport in Bangor, Portland, or Boston. A car is necessary to take full advantage of the many possibilities for sightseeing and hiking along the Downeast coast. There is a ferry nearby that goes to Bar Harbor (Memorial Day - Labor Day) and from there you can ride the free Island Explorer bus throughout Acadia National Park, getting off and on at numerous spots. We rent the cottage SATURDAY to SATURDAY with check-in after 4:00 pm and check-out by 10:00 am. In special circumstances, primarily in the spring and late fall seasons, a shorter stay may be considered if you contact the host. We have a strict no dog policy. As with many Downeast properties, the only internet available here is wireless and speeds can vary throughout the day/eve or when it's very foggy or stormy.
