Adventure Lover's Resting Place
Ciales is a quaint mountain town nestled in cliffs & rainforest. There’s nearby rock climbing (Flying Coconut, Caliche 1.5mi) + Roca Norte (35min drive) + Viejo & Nuevo Bayamón (45min drive) for all levels. 2 Ciales rivers provide swimming, fishing, kayaking, tubing, & more. Plenty food trucks + restaurants! Drive Rt 149 for mountain views, trails, caves (Cavernas Las Cabichuelas, CaveLand 2.0mi). Toro Negro National Park Rainforest, waterfalls. Mar Chiquita/Vega Baja beaches (20-25min) drive. The space is in a downstairs apartment with private entrance and is very quiet and cozy. It has an AC unit with remote control. The bunk bed is full size at the bottom and twin at the top. The couch may also be turned into a twin bed. The kitchenette contains a sink, coffee maker, electric double boiler, utensils and basic kitchenware. There’s a gazebo that’s adjacent to the apt which may be used by guests to lounge or use the outdoor grill. We help take care of two street dogs who will most likely greet you when you arrive. Gri-Gri and Roca are both from the neighborhood. Roca (black) gets excited by new people so he might try to jump up to paw you. Just be firm with him and he’ll get it. Guests have access to one parking spot just below the house, the gazebo with grill, the terraced garden area, and the downstairs apt. Guests may request use of the washer/dryer machine. Your co-host is always available for any questions or concerns and may be reached via the app or by phone. With trees such as coconut, plantain, banana, mango, starfruit, dragon fruit, papaya, avocado, and oranges (and much more) growing at every turn here in Ciales, this is truly a Puerto Rican experience. Many of the neighbors have lived here most, or all, of their lives and are rich in Ciales and Puerto Rican history. Although Spanish is the primary language, English is spoken and understood by many. If you’re interested in getting up close to the real Puerto Rican culture, then this place is for you. Easy walk to a small convenience store up the road, and a few blocks to the local bakery and coffee shops within the plaza. There are plenty of shopping options nearby in Manatí (10min drive). Parking is provided for one car behind the studio apartment. The apt can be made virtually sound proof by closing the windows and turning on the AC unit. The walk up from the parking spot to the apt is a bit steep, which may be a challenge for those with knee or foot issues. There is no WiFi but the reception for hotspot on your phone works great.
