As seen in Architectural Digest, Condé Nast Traveler and Domino Magazine, Casa Violeta provides escape, peace, and tranquility in Granada's tropical, Spanish-Colonial town. Every booking includes access to highly curated travel tips and recs provided by the founder of El Camino Travel, Katalina Mayorga. Armed with her knowledge, you'll have direct access to one-of-a-kind experiences not available anywhere else and discover hidden gems to visit in this stunning country. Staying at Casa Violeta is much more than booking a luxury villa. We pride ourselves on creating a whole experience for our guests rooted in expert knowledge of the destination. Rest assured that you will be well taken care of while staying with us, and you can count on us to provide you insider travel tips and ideas for your time in this beautiful country. The house is decorated with antiques sourced throughout the country, custom ceramics from the village of San Juan del Oriente, and modern art from contemporary Nicaraguan artists. We visited several studios to source the perfect art for Casa Violeta that added additional cultural texture and layers of character and soul to the home while celebrating all the country's talent and craftsmanship. Take a dip, or soak in the sun in the courtyard and custom-tiled pool, under open skies, surrounded by lush, tropical flowers and trees. Sip a cocktail (or two), gathering in the curated, open kitchen, living, and dining areas of the peristyle that offers shade, catching breezes from Lake Nicaragua, and offering views of a never-ending motif of color. Locally made, hand-crafted black, gray, and white tiles make the eye follow a canvass of bold patterns draped in colorful blankets. The attention to detail and delicate balance of geometric design and natural, tropical elements provides captivation and visual candy in every corner. From the terrace, wake up with your morning coffee, gazing at the southern views of Mombacho, the volcano that gives Granada its rich, dark soil. As the sun fades and the night sky emerges, chat away the evening with nightcaps, directing your eyes north to Our Lady of the Consumption, the central, canary-yellow cathedral that prevails over the local skyline. This luxury villa is accessible by a private, gated entrance aptly named Banana Avenue, offering private car parking. While private car parking is available, the villa is centrally located, only four and a half blocks from the central square, and well within walking distance to Granada's major highlights. Accommodating a total of six people, each of the three bedrooms comes with a single king-sized bed, although each king can be split into two separate twin beds upon request. Each bedroom is also equipped with air conditioning (See note on the environment below!). The house also comes with a fully-equipped kitchen. However, please note that there is no oven. We strongly recommend that children be at least five years of age or more to stay due to the open staircase and courtyard. All reservations include pool cleaning and electric usage (it is not uncommon to be charged separately for that in Granada). With our courtesy travel recommendations and tips, you'll be able to arrange several services and experiences at the house including babysitting, private yoga classes, massages, cooking classes, and private photoshoots. Just ask, and we'll point you in the right direction. The property manager will meet the guests to hand-off keys and show the house, and will be available to help with any issues that may arise. You will be able to contact the owners to get any assistance with arranging additional experiences. Casa Violeta can provide numerous tips on where to go, what to see, and how to get the most out of your vacation. We can provide you the information to arrange local tours, massages and other activities. Just let us know! There are so many reasons to visit Granada, whether it’s to celebrate, escape the cold, a girls trip, or recharge and relax. Our guests receive the additional benefit of access to El Camino Travel’s expert travel recs and advice. We can help point you in the right direction to book additional experiences and activities during your time in Granada with us as well as our highly curated resource guide of what to do and see, and where to play and shop while in Granada. Reach out to us, your hosts, to help curate the travel experience you need including massages, private dinners at art galleries, transportation, and kid-friendly activities. Below are just some of our offerings: Alberto’s Walking Tour: Alberto is our favorite guide, and this is not your average (read: boring) walking tour of this beautiful town. See and learn the unknown sights and layered history that separates Granada from the rest-- from Indigenous communities, Spanish colonization, pirate raids, revolutions, foreign occupation, all the way to the now. You’ll even visit some of our local guide's personal favorites, including his favorite quesillo stand (afternoon tour), a hammock shop that employs blind and deaf children, and even where locals go for the coldest beer in town. You’ll see Granada in a whole new light, appreciating it’s wonderful subtleties, feeling right at home. The Real Massaya Market Tour: Massaya boasts Nicaragua best market for crafts and food. Let your eyes settle from stunning hand-crafted ceramics to vibrantly colored local fruits and produce. Let one of our local hosts show you around this bustling trove of treasures that is impossible to navigate on your own. Lake Nicaragua Fishing Tour: Lake Nicaragua is Central America’s largest lake. Fish like a local as you boat through the islands that dot the lake just off the shore from Granada like tropical fjords. The catch is yours to make fresh ceviche or grill up as you see fit. Laguna de Apoyo: Take a day to relax along the banks and in the waters of this volcanic crater. A microclimate unto its own; Laguna de Apoyo is a dry, tropical environment that has thermal, hot springs amidst the lagoon waters and orchids flanking its banks. Swim and explore. Wildlife abounds in this stunning, local favorite. Catamaran Sailing the Emerald Coast: Let us charter you a Catamaran for the day. Departing from San Juan del Sur, the Catamaran gently skims the deep blue. Drift along the Emerald Coast which offers sights of waves crashing along green cliffs, birds, fresh catches for ceviche, dolphins, and the occasional sea turtle. Take refuge in hidden coves to play and swim. Sip a Nica Libre (rum and coke) as the winds soar the catamaran back to port during the sunset. Surf Lessons in Popoyo: Whether advanced, a little rusty, or a beginner; Popoyo is the perfect surf destination with low crowds and a surf break for all skill levels. Even better, we have a local guide who can show you where to go, scrape off any rust, or get a beginner addicted to surfing. Night Tour of Mombacho Volcano: Care to hike to the top of an active volcano and peer down to Dante’s Inferno? Test your nerve and be rewarded with a stunning view of mother nature’s power as you admire glowing magma lighting the night sky. Casa Violeta’s Note on Environment: At Casa Violeta, we strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible while offering the highest level of comfort to our guests. We ask that you please turn off fans, lights, and AC units when they are not in use.
