It is a beautiful beach that seems to have very few people compared to other beaches....just about 90 steps. Also is the longest beach on the Dutch side. Use provided cooler, beach chairs, beach towels and umbrella and have a beach day. I live just adjacent to the apartment in the main house. We are usually always around and will try to help in any way. The Simpson Bay beach is a spectacular almost 2 mile beach with its breathtaking ocean views and white sands. Simpson Bay is an old fishing village and the beach is not well know and therefore usually very quiet. A short drive and you are close to everything. There are so many things to do in less than a 15 minute drive. Just past the airport here is the famous Sunset Beach Bar where the planes practically land on your head Youtube has so many videos. The newly built causeway over the lagoon gets you to the french side in about 6 minutes. Numerous restaurants and bars, casinos, water sport/ fishing activities, bicycle/ kayak rentals at Trisport with further info on eco type tours. There are shops, spas, golf, tennis,marinas with ferries to other islands, water sports and a movie theater. The capitals of Philipsburg on the dutch side and Marigot on the french side offer many interests including duty free shopping and restaurants. Parking right in front of your entrance. 5 minute walk to grocery store. Many restaurants just minutes away. There is a newly opened causeway bridge that crosses the lagoon from end of the runway at simpson bay to almost at the french border. You will no longer have to drive in the traffic to Cole Bay..All around much less traffic due to the addition of this new road. This means that now a drive to the french side takes about 6 minutes. There are regular local buses that have stops on the main road, about a 10 minute walk. In St Maarten, the electricity and / or water service can at times be disrupted. This apartment is hooked up to a standby generator that automatically comes on if the city power does go off. The apartment also has a cistern and pump in the event that there is a city water disruption.
