Hillcrest with an elevation of approximately 100 feet above the original city of Little Rock was the city's first suburb. It was established in 1905 as a desirable country retreat to catch cooler breezes on it's heights during the hot summer months. Over 150 acres of the neighborhood were owned by Fred W. Allsopp, originally from Staffordshire England who built an estate in the middle of his property. He encouraged the development of the ravines between the original city and the suburb of Hillcrest. In 1931, he and the City of Little Rock dedicated Allsopp Park, a 150 acre bird sanctuary with numerous winding trails up and down those same ravines. This airbnb is located on the site of the old mansion adjacent to the park. It is centrally located in the neighborhood and has a private drive to South Lookout and Fairview. There are sidewalks on these public roads leading to all the local venues and to public transportation. It is about a 5 minute walk to the bus stop at Beechwood and Kavanaugh. Guests park in a driveway off Wait Street or in the carport underneath the house. Upon arrival we provide snacks for our guests. A complimentary self-serve breakfast of Keurig Coffee, Sister Schubert Cinnamon Rolls & Eggo Waffles (in the freezer for guests to pop in the oven or toaster) butter, real Maple Syrup, Olive oil, salt & pepper are provided. The Charlotte John Company is not holding funds for their properties.
