It offers a fabulous panoramic view, from the terraces and rooms (and even from your bed), of the beach, the Golfo Dulce, the jungle and the tropical garden. The terraces, the beach and the trails allows you to discover and observe, on the spot, the exceptional fauna and flora of this incredible region. The beach is perfect for swimming. The waves are small and there are no currents. The house is located in the heart of the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Preciosa Platanares, between the jungle, the mangrove and the Golfo Dulce, that is to say 4 different eco-systems. It has several spaces to share pleasant moments of conviviality. THREE BEDROOMS, KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM, TERRACES & BEACH... The rooms are protected by mosquito nets. They are decorated with Cristobal wood. The furniture was made by a local artisan in fallen wood. The Almendro room has a superb 180° view on the beach and the jungle. It is equipped with a king size bed, a small desk, a bathroom (with hot water and toilet) and a terrace with armchairs. The Ilan Ilan room has a superb 180° view on the beach and the jungle. It is equipped with two twin beds, a small desk, a bathroom (with hot water and toilet) and a terrace with chairs. The Cacao room has a superb 180° view on the tropical garden. It is equipped with two twin beds, a small desk, a bathroom (with hot water and toilet). The kitchen has a family refrigerator, a stove, an oven, a coffee machine and all the necessary equipment to cook and take meals on the spot. The living room is a very convivial place and open to the outside. The terrace is equipped with a sofa and a table that can accommodate 6 people. The house has chairs and hammocks installed on the beach. You have exclusive use of the entire house. The property is permanently guarded by a keeper who lives in a small, completely independent apartment on the ground floor at the back of the house. MANY ACTIVITIES ON SITE OR NEARBY, GUIDED OR UNGUIDED The unique location of Punta Preciosa permits the practice of many activities on site or nearby, guided or unguided. The guided activities proposed are personalized and individual. They have been conceived with the best guides. As far as possible, the departures are made from Punta Preciosa (kayak, horse, boat...). We can arrange all of these activities for you if you wish. Punta Preciosa is only 15 minutes away from Puerto Jimenez (and its airport) and is a perfect base for visiting Corcovado National Park. AN ECO-FRIENDLY APPROACH AND IN HARMONY WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY We try to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible. Our energy is 100% solar. We do not have air conditioning. The furniture was made by a local artisan with local fallen wood. The cleaning products are organic. We try to sort and recycle our waste. We replant a lot of native plants and trees, we regularly clean the beach and participate in many environmental protection programs. We work exclusively with local artisans, guides and merchants and participate in the life and animation of our community. We have created and we manage a program for the protection of marine turtles in Playa Preciosa. You can participate to night patrols or baby turtle releases with volunteers.... THE OSA PENINSULA The Osa Peninsula is considered the most preserved and fascinating region of Costa Rica. It was presented by the National geographic as "The most intense biologically place on earth". It hosts more than 2.5% of the world's biodiversity and many endemic and/or endangered plant and animal species such as the Baird's tapir, the jaguar, the puma, the ocelot... and half of the birds seen in Costa Rica. It is mainly made of forest. The largest tropical rainforest on the Pacific coast. It also has many unknown archaeological treasures and also gold (one of the purest in the world). There are still many "artisanal gold miners". THE GOLFO DULCE Captain Cousteau presented the Golfo Dulce as a "tropical fjord". There would be four of them in the world. It is 51 km long and about 13 km wide. Its maximum depth is about 300 m (10th deepest in the world). On the other hand, the entrance of the gulf, less deep, protects it from the strong currents of the Pacific. The absence of industry and/or important urban areas also explains the purity of its water. Finally, the importance of the contribution of the rivers that flow into it explains why the surface water is less salty than that of the ocean. One of the particularities of the gulf is that the tropical rainforest is in direct contact with the sea... The gulf is home to two species of dolphins, three species of sea turtles, whale sharks... Humpback whales come here to " nurse "... REFUGIO DE VIDA SILVESTRE PLATANARES PRECIOSA Punta Preciosa is located in the heart of the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Preciosa Platanares. A protected area that links Corcovado National Park and the Reserva Forestal Golfo Dulce. It is composed of jungle, beaches and mangroves. Its objective is the protection of a unique and fascinating ecosystem that is the mangrove. PLAYA PLATANARES PRECIOSA Punta Preciosa is located on Playa Platanares, the beach is often deserted and the area in front of Punta Preciosa is perfect for swimming. The beach is a nesting area for turtles. PUERTO JIMENEZ This typical town is located 6 km from Punta Preciosa. It has many restaurants, bars, stores... but also a post office, banks, cash machines, a clinic, a gas station, a police station, an airport... To come from San José, there are several options: the plane (daily flights of about 45 minutes), the bus (daily trips) or the car. The house is located 15 minutes by car from the airport of Puerto Jimenez.
