This house was originally a chicken coop! It was built in 1925 but was converted into a gorgeous, cozy guest house. We live in the larger house built on the front of the same lot. This single story house is ideal for comfort and security, with a large yard and plenty of privacy. It's also less than a block from the Silver Line bus route that whisks you to downtown GR. You’ll love its comfort and convenience. We cater to couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and families (with kids). Our guest house is unique in that it is located within the city but situated way back from the main road on a deep wooded lot behind the main house in which we live. You have privacy from others in your own home with plenty of surrounding trees and landscaping that help assure your own space free from neighbors. There is ample off street parking. Guests have 24/7 access to the house via their own key provided by the host upon check-in. The hosts live in the larger house located on the front of the lot so they are close by if guests need anything. The house is located deep in the back of our lot where it is surrounded by nature. Maple trees, lilac bushes and other greenery surround the house which has plenty of large windows to bring the outside in making the space feel even larger than it is. A little house in the big city! We are close to several paved bike trails including the Plaster Creek Trail which takes you along a wooded creek area. We are also within easy walking distance of the Salvation Army Ray Kroc Community Center which offers a variety of options for those wishing to work out, climb a wall or take a swim. They offer many programs for families and children. Less than 3 miles from many grocery stores and within easy walking distance from pharmacies, gas stations and convenience stores. Plenty of excellent restaurants are also close by including the Beltline Bar which has the best Mexican food in town. Many ethnic restaurants are also close by. The Old Goat Restaurant is less than two miles away run by excellent chiefs that own the famed Electric Cheetah downtown. Easy access to U.S. 131 and 28th street. We are 8.2 miles from the Gerald R. Ford International Airport and 4.3 miles from the Amtrak station. We are located less than a block where two main bus routes run making quick, easy and flexible access to the heart of Grand Rapids. The Silver Line route (https://www.ridetherapid.org/ride/routes/sl), which offers the quickest way downtown, has a stop within easy walking distance from us. The other main bus route stop, which also takes you downtown but with more stops, is less than half a block from the house. The house utilizes solar power through an innovative solar panel shutter system. Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations.
