Located on a small hill overlooking Paunch Beach, one of the top surf spots in Bocas. Experience a rustic cabin style charm and simplicity, with amazing tree house like views. Enjoy conveniences like a 12ft deck, sitting area, large area for lounging and yoga, and bicycles. The best of what Bocas has to offer - surfing at your doorstep, swimming just a bike ride away, jungle views out your window and town only a 10 minute taxi ride away! Here you can wake up to the sounds of Howler Monkeys and tropical birds and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean from the nearby surf. When you visit us, not only are you visiting an amazing tropical paradise with tons of unique wildlife, beautiful plants and landscapes, but also an epic surf spot right at our front door…with more amazing beaches (for both swimming and surfing) just a short walk, bike or boat ride away! Or, just lounge around in your hammock on your 12ft. long deck, which is partially uncovered for those of you wanting to catch some sun. The room comes equipped hand made custom bed, queen sized gel memory foam mattress, extra comfy pillows, soft sheets and fluffy towels. You'll have your own private well-equipped kitchenette, so that you don't always have to go out to eat lunch or dinner. We also provide additional convenience items such as small flash lights (as some part of town are dark/unlit), beach towels, free WiFi, lap top sized room safe, and a huge hot water stand up shower in an open air style bathroom with large windows that let the light, breeze and jungle sounds in. Guests have access to explore the jungle around us (please bring boots if you intend to) - we can even provide a guide for a few hour hike (works on tips for this service). You will also have access to our shared dining deck, which includes a small refrigerator that is stocked with drinks for sale which guests can take at any time (a small book is left for guests to mark what they take). When you check in, we will do a quick walk through with you and provide you with keys. We have as much or as little interactions with guests based on their needs and interest. We are available for questions, recommendations and help with activity & dining reservations. We live on the property (2nd floor of the main cabin) and are available everyday until 11am at least. When we are not on property, we are typically out running errands in the mid/late afternoons and some evenings. But we can usually still be reached by cell phone. Playa Paunch or Punch, depending on your native accent or what map you read is one of the more popular surf breaks in Bocas del Toro. Although best known for its surf, Playa Paunch is lovely in and of itself. Its shoreline affords wonderful views of Isla Colón and Isla Carenero in the distance and at some times of year or during low tide, you can explore the dozens of little sand wading areas between the reef...these cute little secluded spots can be perfect to spend time lounging in the water and laying out, many times with complete privacy. It may be one of the island’s best and most convenient places to spend the day lounging at one of the nearby beachside bars and restaurants. In the Paunch area (and beyond), you are away from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town. Here you can see tons of wildlife on a daily basis – most of which you’d never see in town.  Toucans, sloths, iguanas, and two species of monkeys (Howler and Capuchin). The area is excellent for bird watching and you can take a tour through the jungle if you want to become more familiar with the abundant plant life on this tropical island. Still, most people come here to surf. The waves break both left and right and tend to vary in size, making it perfect for every skill level. The left is popular for it’s large barrels when the swell is big. The wave can get very powerful, hence the name – Punch! Be aware, though, that a coral reef lies just beneath the surface – surfers are advised to wear booties while shredding Paunch’s waves (or you can arrange for a water taxi or boat to take you out to the waves if you want to avoid the coral). Please see description for directions. We are also on a water catchment system. We ask all of our guests to conserve water as much as possible at all times, and during dry periods, there are times we will ask guests to restrict water usage a bit more than normal.  We check the tanks daily and will advise guests if we are running extremely low on water. In an effort to conserve water at all times though, linens are changed after every 3rd night.  Daily housekeeping is an option our guests can request at any time if they prefer total privacy. We are on a small island in a "developing" area of Panama. Power outages happen occasionally. We will do what we can to help your visit remain comfortable, but there may be inconveniences during those times. We are in the jungle, so you will experience things like mosquitos, grasshoppers, geckos and such.  We fumigate regularly but other than that, we respect the fact that we are in their world and sometimes they do get in the rooms. We have mosquito nets for those needing extra “protection” at night. All part of the adventure!
