Perfect for family visits to UMaine or exploring Downeast. Renovated and spacious 2-bedroom apartment with a historic feel and modern comforts. Walk to all of Orono's microbreweries, shops, and restaurants. Less than 4 minutes to UMaine campus (1 mile), 1 hour 20 minutes to Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor, and 10 minutes to Bangor. Private entrance, two-floor apartment. The space is comfortable and spacious for 2 or 3 people; it works well for 4 as long as guests are comfortable sharing one bathroom. There is an open kitchen with new appliances. A large open living room with a cozy seating area. The bathroom is on the ground floor with a walk-in shower and rain shower head. Two bedrooms upstairs each with a queen bed and plush pillows. High-speed internet. Smart TV with ROKU for streaming (no cable TV available). Plenty of natural light. A Ductless Mini-spilt provides extra heat and cooling in the summertime. Guest will have access to the entire private apartment. Free street parking from April - October. Private off-street parking in a large driveway is available across the street. Parking in the driveway is limited to only two vehicles. Check-in after 3 p.m. is always flexible. Check-in instructions will be sent to you and you can come and go as you please at whatever hour. I can be available as little or as much as needed. I will always be close by to answer any questions. I'm happy to give suggestions or help you plan your visit but I will always respect your privacy. I take hosting seriously and want to make sure you have a great experience. Orono is a University town. Peaceful and calm during the summer and bustling and vibrant during the school year. The apartment is on a residential street but a minute's walk from three microbreweries, numerous restaurants and quaint coffee shops. The Stillwater River with it's beautiful views and wooded walking trail is right down the road. On the free Black Bear Express bus route which runs from UMaine Campus to downtown Orono twice an hour when the University is in session. It is a safe and easy walk to the UMaine campus and takes about 20-25 minutes. Driving takes less than 5 minutes and there is minimal traffic. Two miles from interstate 95. The apartment has one bathroom which is on the first floor while the bedrooms are up a short staircase on the second floor. *The stairs leading to the upstairs are steep and may be dangerous for small children and seniors. Guests who have mobility issues or consistently need to access the downstairs bathroom throughout the night may not be the best fit.* There is no washer/dryer or dishwasher in this apartment. There is a $15 charge per night for each additional guest after 2 with a maximum of 4 total in the apartment. Please ensure the guest count is accurate when completing a booking. There is a Smart TV (in the living room) with access to Netflix but no cable or local channels. There are two Mini-Spilt ductless A/C and heat pump units in the apartment. One downstairs in the open kitchen/dining area and one upstairs in the master bedroom. If interior doorways are left open, these units will cool the entire space. There are multiple fans found in the apartment that can be used to circulate the cool air. The apartment is as spacious as a small house and has its own private entrance, but there are other units connected to the building. Guests should expect to see other tenants on the grounds. Maine is the most heavily forested state in the country and there are bugs. Bugs are attracted to light. Entry doors open to the outside and outdoor lights will be left on for safety. When doors are left open, bugs can and will fly in. Since guests will be in an unfamiliar space, light-sensor nightlights are placed in outlets throughout the apartment. They can be unplugged. In an emergency situation and on a rare occurrence, a service technician may need to access the basement of this apartment in the event that there are electrical or heating problems within the building. Guests will be contacted before entry. Summer 2023 - Summer 2024: There is a construction project happening on the block that may create some noise on the weekdays during working hours (7 am-7 pm.)
