Mahalo! One bedroom with a queen bed. Loft, accessed by a short ladder in the hall, has two queen sofa beds and a nice play area with “some” toys for the kids. There are also 3 additional futons with extra bedding for sleeping arrangements. The hatch door to the loft can be closed for safety. Not suitable for children unattended! Text or call if you have questions or need help or advice. 353-598-6413 or 808-854-0877. Aloha! Only 15 minutes from Laupāhoehoe point beach park. Less than 10 minutes from Papaaloa Country Store. 25 minutes from Hilo. Our favorite things to see, things to do, and places to eat: Going north (turning left out of our driveway) there is Papa’aloa country store less than 10 minutes away that is really worth going to. You can buy most necessities there and some nostalgic fun stuff, but they also prepare fantastic food in the back and have a little restaurant as well. They have live entertainment sometimes on weekends. Turn left out of our driveway, go around the first big gulch and then watch for the sign. there is a road angling off to the right that takes you straight to it. Laupahoehoe Beach Park is only a little further past Papaaloa. Go around the second big gulch and turn right, follow the windy road all the way down to the point. You can picnic there, play ball and swim. Fantastic views as well and learn about the devastation of the tsunami that wiped out the little school that used to be there. About a half hour north of us just before you get to Honokaa is Tex’s Drive-In. Fantastic food and the best malasadas (Portuguese donut common to Hawaii) served hot!!! South of us (turn right out of our driveway) watch for the signs to take the Scenic Route. It is the old road that heads to Hilo with spectacular views and things to see. Truly the beauty of the islands. In Honomu, about 10 miles from us is Akaka Falls. There is a short hike to see all the falls but so worth it!!! Breathtaking views and you get to experience the gardens of Hawaii!!! In Hilo, Rainbow Falls is right downtown!! Easy to access and breathtaking!! Coconut Island is fantastic with picnic areas, surrounded by little beaches and towers to jump off if you have the nerve! The farmers market is fantastic!! The best two days are Saturday and Wednesday. If you are in the area, that is a real highlight!! You’ll love it! It is located right next to the storefronts at Hilo Bay. The first storefront next to the farmers market has a little entrance to several places to eat. The Thai food there is wonderful and the shave ice is fantastic!!! Get the works!! Several beaches in Hilo that are great are in the Keaukaha area. Onekahakaha is a great little kids beach, then there is Richardson’s beach, For Miles Beach. Several along there. For choices of real traditional food, try Hawaiian Style Cafe. Quite a long wait but very good. Vernas Drive-In or Ken’s House of Pancakes are great too. Try the coconut syrup at Ken’s!!! You’ll get hooked! Big Island Candies right in Hilo town is a great place to visit as well. They let you sample a few things and watch them make the candies. Try the chocolate dipped shortbread cookies!! Super yummy!! Check out what’s happening with the lava flow. This is always changing and devastating, but beautiful! ***In accordance with local laws, Please contact the Hawaii Fire Department (808-961-8336) and give them the address if you plan to build a fire in the outdoor fire pit. Mahalo!
