Nestle into your lounger as you escape into an Aloha state of mind, to lush pastures of grassy morning dew, billowing playfully as the trade winds blow out to the deep blue horizon of the Pacific. It is here you will find where you always belonged. Aloha and welcome to our home! We hope that you find our spacious attached studio to be so much more than pictures will ever show. It is furnished and laid out to take every advantage of the beautiful landscape surrounding our home. There are several seating arrangements including a plush lounger, perfect to read a book or even to prop up an easel and to paint the morning sun rise over the canopy of trees in the horizon. We hope that you don't spend all of your day plopped in the grand queen-sized bed that stares off into the horizon; a morning jog along the nearby cane fields towards the fields of eucalyptus trees is just the perk you need to breathe in the sweet country air. Our kitchenette is well equipped with all the local spices you may need to prepare your treasured local produce found at nearby open markets to a homely meal. A flatscreen TV with local cable channels provide a base for your entertainment needs, as well as a few board games, and books within our large walk-in closet. Our home rests against the beautiful Hamakua countryside which is flush with a combination of rainforest and pasture land, nearby Akaka Falls and Waipio Valley, and diversified agricultural land. Being in the rainforest and countryside, it is not uncommon to hear roosters in the morning, coqui frogs chirping, cows mooing from a distance, the croak of native geckos blessing our home and keeping the critter count low. I do have a few outdoor cats, that mainly keep to themselves. The Kamehameha Highway (HWY 19) is adjacent to our home, earplugs and are provided to minimize road disturbance and provide extra comfort and rest. Road noise may be prominent in the morning but quickly subsides mid-morning. My family and I are absolutely in love with this home and we would love to share it with your loved ones as well. The Big Island is such an adventurous place, don't hesitate to ask us any questions you may have. Our home is located in the once bustling plantation town of Pa'auilo, about 40 minutes north of Hilo, 10 minutes from Honoka'a, 25 minutes south of Waimea, 30 minutes from Waipio Valley, 40 minutes from Waiakoloa and over an hour away from Kona. It is one of many villages along the Hamakua coast line. Where sugar cane was once harvested and plentiful, diversified agriculture and eucalyptus fields remain. Hamakua reaps the benefits of high rainfall providing for the lush landscape but remarkably has the most temperate climate of any region on the Big Island. Due to its rich volcanic soil, the Big Island produces some of the highest quality agriculture in the state. Coffee, macadamia nuts, and papaya are just a handful of its world reknowned crops. The Hamakua region itself is home to numerous waterfalls and specialty produce farms like mushrooms and vanilla. Waimea and its rolling hills houses the largest privately owned ranch in the country Parker Ranch; with access to a collection of locally sourced products it's easy to see that the Big Island has a rich tradition of farm to table dining culture. We are 45 minutes away from Hilo. A car would be best to get around. Our check in time is at 3pm with checkout at 11am. Please alert us of your travel itinerary so that we can best accommodate you. Although we do not provide laundry facilities, there is a laundromat nearby. We do have some sports equipment such as golf clubs, kayaks, and snorkeling gear available for a nominal fee. If you are spending a day at the beach, we do have chairs, mats and cooler packs free for your use. Please note that there is no AC unit as we have excellent trade winds blowing through the unit and a towered fan for you to utilize. Let us know what you need and we can make recommendations for some great locations to do all. W02269422-01
