Book a weekend or a week, and enjoy the beauty of the Connecticut River Valley and our neighborhood of North Hadley, which includes Lake Warner and hiking trails, Carr's Cidery Garden and farm store and the North Hadley Sugar Shack, all within walking distance. The location is under a 15 minute drive to UMass, Amherst College and Hampshire College. It's about 15-20 minutes to Easthampton, Greenfield, Northampton. 30 minutes to Springfield/Holyoke. Our house is on a quiet street in a farming community. The guest room is on the first floor (a few steps up into the house) includes two twin beds and a private bathroom. You'll have a coffee/tea setup in the kitchen, and use of fridge if you need to stash a few items. We have a microwave and toaster oven. I enjoy providing some breakfast options, fruits, breads, e.g., if you'd like. The shared but still quiet spaces are an open space that includes the kitchen and the first of two sitting areas -- the sunroom, divided from the kitchen by a counter, where you can sit and enjoy the view out fields and our "barn." The 2nd living area has a couch, tv and fireplace. Outside your bedroom is another dining area, which we won't use during your stay, but you can! There's also a piano, out of tune by a 1/2 note! Do play if you're so inclined. Guitars and a ukulele also avail. . I will be here to greet you or leave you a instructions how to get in. We'll be here to greet you, or soon thereafter, then available during your stay. We are happy to show you around, or leave you up to your own devices! Our street ends in farm land, so it's quiet. The tractors are the loudest thing, and not frequent. Our neighborhood is walking distance to Mt. Warner, and Lake Warner, which has a public ramp for kayaks, canoes, etc. We also live off a main road, Route 47, which is very popular with cyclists. The North Hadley Sugar Shack is within walking distance and year-round sells local produce and goods, meat, beer, wine, etc. To the north by about 7 miles is Mt. Surgarloaf, a 'more bang for your buck hike' in South Deerfield. A great bike ride. About 12 miles north is Montague and its quaint village -- e.g., The Bookmill ("Books you dont need in a place you can't find"), a wonderfulrestaurant, Turn it Up Records, and an art gallery or two -- all of this set on a rapid river. The Blue Heron is another gorgeous restaurant, in Sunderland, also north on 47 by about 7 miles. Plenty of less fancy joints too (The Harp in North Amherst is a fave, and of course... all of Northampton and Amherst!) The town of Amherst is less than 15 minutes away. Northampton, likewise, in the other direction. No public transportation nearby. Car or bike or walking shoes needed! The house is an older farm house, with lots of natural light, comfortably furnished. In your room, in addition to beds, a little tables, chairs; shelving for clothes, spacious closet. A space heater in the cold months. An a/c for the summer. We have a very friendly older cat (not as old as the house) who will not be in your room -- unless you leave your door open. His kitty litter box is away down at the other end of the house from where you'll be staying.
