Our modern yet comfortable apartment enjoys sweeping views over Cerro Alegre, the cultural center of Valparaiso, and the bay of Valparaiso. Not only will you enjoy the spacious and carefully appointed apartment, but you will also enjoy a private 82 square meter rooftop terrace with 360 degree views. The apartment is brand new and comes equipped with top of the line appliances, including a washing machine and grill. Restaurants and shopping are within easy walking distance. Our building is directly adjacent to the cultural center of Valparaiso, an old prison recently rehabilitated to host an artist co-op, art exhibitions, a theater, and a cafe. The park frequently hosts cultural events, artisanal and organic fairs, and yoga classes. It is an easy walk to this lovely green oasis or you can simply enjoy it from the rooftop terrace. Access to the apartment is from Cerro Carcel, and the building is directly next to Parque Cultural Valparaiso. Although we do not have a parking space in the garage, we ask guests to park on the small side street directly next to Parque Cultural. The street is safe and we have never had any issues. It is an easy 15-minute walk to Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, where many restaurants and shops can be found. Guests can descend through the building and walk down Calle Atahualpa or walk up to Plaza Bismarck and along Avendia Alemania. Either walk will afford beautiful views of the bay and of street art. The co-host Franciska lives nearby, is easily reached, and is a valuable resource on all things Valparaiso. The apartment is located on Cerro Carcel (Prison Hill). While not the most inviting name, it refers to the fact that the area hosted the main prison of Valparaiso for many years. The complex has now been transformed into a beautiful and modern oasis for the arts and recreation. A short walk down the hill will bring you to the old cemeteries of Valparaiso - one for Catholics and one for "disidentes" (Protestants). It is lovely to wander among the gracefully decaying tombs and mausoleums. It is easy to access the hill by bus, micro or taxi, all of which frequently run up and down Calle Cumming. To access Cerro Alegre or Plaza Anibal Pinto where you will find many restaurants and shops, a short stroll down Atahualpa will bring you to the plaza or you can take the Reina Victoria acensor to ascend to Cerro Alegre. Our building is brand new and contains 24 units. Our's is one of two on the top floor, offering unparalleled views in all directions. Guests have private access to an 82 square meter rooftop terrace. The building is secure and you will receive keys to the apartment as well as the building. Please note that there is no heating available, but plenty of blankets are offered. Outside of the winter months this will not be an issue.
