We're centrally located from beaches and tourist attractions. You're 15-minutes away from Ponce, the second most visited city on the island. Known for it's rich history, museums and Plaza Las Delicias. Its old town features grand mansions built in the unique Ponce Creole architectural style. This house is perched above the town and has a lovely view of the surrounding hills. It feels like being in your very own tree house. You can't beat waking up to the collective sound of distant roosters and coqui with that fresh mountain air and walking out to a 270 view of Peñuelas. Outdoors, the carport is a great hangout spot. Relax on the hammocks, read, write, drink coffee (or tea) at the bistro table, play dominoes or grill. We have badminton and some outdoor toys for the family. Enjoy a sunset dinner on the outdoor patio table surrounded by nature and string lights. In case of a long power outage, there's a generator that can be connected to the house with a transfer switch. Small convenience stores are hang-out spots for locals. Drinking local "Medalla" beer at these stores and gas stations is very common. Peñuelas is known as The Güiro Capital and The Valley of the Poinciana Trees. Wind through the barrio of Caracoles on the way to the house. Like most neighborhoods here, the drive up to the house is a little less than beautiful, but my wife walked these streets as a young girl. So it's heart-warming for us with lots of great memories. You will need a car. There are car rentals at the airports and in Ponce. Book it before arriving to Puerto Rico. Check with your credit card company first in case you get automatic insurance coverage by using it. That'll save you some money from buying their insurance it at the car rental location. There's one security camera in the front of the house facing the street. The outside lights are on a timer but can be turned on/off manually as well. If previous guests have left sun screen and mosquito repellents, please help yourself. If it runs out, there's a Walgreens pharmacy in town. Selectos is our local grocery store. We are on a mountain. We have an exterminator that comes out monthly which has cut down on the insects dramatically. You will see small lizards and insects. When stray dogs, cats and iguanas come into the property please shoo them away.
