We love the location-- you will be within walking distance to a community grocery store that is stocked with great prepared foods and groceries in addition to being able to walk to a slew of restaurants, bakeries, ice cream shops and more. There is a walk along the waterfront (combo of beaches and paths) that allows you to walk down through all the hotels of Wailea; we love a routine of waking up for a snorkel across the street, taking a long walk with a stop for smoothies at the Andaz, spending time on the beach, grabbing fish tacos for lunch, and then relaxing or going on excursions in the afternoons. very walkable although you will likely want a car for excursions around the island. Taxis and car-sharing are great for trips to Wailea (or you can rent bikes or scooters a few doors down). Wailea is about a 5 minute drive (1 mile away). The other part of Kihei with the active nightlife scene (many bars!) is about a mile in the opposite direction. We like to walk there and taxi home :).
