We can also contact private chef services. The villa is ideally located in the heart of town, between Playa Carmen and Playa Santa Teresa. Hidden 50m from the main road and fully-fenced, the property offers privacy and peace despite the proximity to all the hustle and bustle. Everything you need is nearby— grocery stores, restaurants, bars, yoga studios, and of course, the beach! Just 1-minute away is the famous beachside restaurant, Banana Beach, which also offers one of the top surf breaks in the area and hosts some of the region's surf competitions. Surf, grab a bite, join a volleyball match, or order a drink, as the hours slip by in paradise. At the crossroads of Mal Pais/Santa Teresa make a right turn heading north. We are 700m from the crossroads, just after Super Muralla up the road on the right side. The quickest route to Villa Akari is by air from San Jose (SJO) to Tambor (TMU) on Sansa Airlines. From Tambor, we can arrange either a taxi or shuttle to pick you up (approximately $60), or you can rent a car from Budget (reserve in advance). Villa Akari is a 40-min drive from Tambor Airport. Alternatively, you can travel by land. From San Jose, head to the port town of Puntarenas by taking the new highway (27) via Santa Ana to Calderas (about 1.5 hours). In Puntarenas, board the ferry to Paquera and cross the Gulf of Nicoya (about 1 hour). Once in Paquera, drive towards Tambor and then Cobano. Continue straight in Cobano for around 20 min until you reach your destination. Additionally, both private and public shuttles are available directly from San Jose to Villa Akari, for approximately $250 and $50, respectively. The journey takes around 7 hours. Public shuttles leave twice a day (excluding holidays), and private shuttles are arranged by request to fit around your specific itinerary. There is also a public bus that leaves twice a day (excluding holidays) from San Jose to the Nicoya Peninsula. The journey takes about 7 hours, including an hour-long ferry ride from the mainland to the peninsula. The bus departs from Terminal 7-10 and a ticket costs $12.
