The desert meets the ocean in this majestic region of Peru, a paradise for sailing sports and photography. Sailing conditions are great throughout the year, with thermal winds ranging from 14-30knots about 95% of the days between August and early May. The beach in front of the villa hosts a wide variety birds, such as: white egrets, Peruvian pelicans, sandpipers, white-cheeked pintails, oyster catchers, whimbrels, blue herons, black skimmers, elegant and royal terns, Peruvian gulls, blue & white swallows, falcons, ospreys, black and turkey vultures, burrowing owls, Peruvian thick-knees, and of course, flamingos. The flamingos are seasonal in front of the villa. Also, the bay hosts colonies of dolphins and sea turtles, and is one of the world's larger scallop farming sites. A morning walk will connect you with nature. Moving around is via public transportation, taxi cab or walking. A taxi cab can pick you from the villa to go into town (about 3km distance) or take tours. When staying three or more nights, you may find more convenient renting a car, to fully explore the natural reserve beaches, restaurants and area in general. Places you can visit while in Paracas include: - The Reserva Nacional de Paracas (3 minutes away), including the archaeology and natural museums - Dune buggy sandboarding tours - The Ballestas Islands (a 2 hour boat tour) - The Nazca lines (from Pisco airport at 15 minutes away) - Some of the best pisco wineyards (45-70 minutes away) - The Huacachina oasis in Ica (1 hour away) - San Gallán island for pro-surfing among sea lions - Other hidden spots... Villa Kite is a special place due to its quiet neighborhood and natural surroundings, and the warmth of its host and friends. The villa is not a hotel. The owner shares his knowledge of the area, and his passion for watersports and nature, with guests. You can get to Paracas in 3+ hours in the Cruz del Sur buses (verify departure times from Lima in their website). They have return buses almost hourly in the afternoon. You can also rent a car in the Lima airport. Enjoy! Lap pool, kite & yoga beach, hammocks, wood fire area and private parking The host is normally present when guests are in the villa, to assist you with activities you may wish to do. This is the most exclusive and tranquile area of Paracas. It is PROTECTED from the afternoon wind, yet with perfect sideshore wind for launching your kite JUST on the waterfront. While other places receive the ocean breeze onshore, here you can relax year-round to stunning sunsets. The area also has the largest concentration of coastal birds, featuring flamingos. - Getting around is walking, by bus or taxi cab. - DINING: Usually there is no need to go to town for lunch and dinner. Just about 200 meters South, walking on the beach, you will find a nice restaurant inside hotel Doubletree, overlooking their pool. They also have a good breakfast buffet. Just let them know you are renting our villa and that you will be paying. You can also rent their kayaks. - WATER: The villa has fresh water supply, not salty water like several oceanfront places. However, you need to bring drinking water when coming to Paracas anywhere.
